YarsRevengeFan
I recently bought a used copy of "Zarlor Mercenary" at the Midwest Classic Gaming Expo. Unfortunately, when I plug it in to the Lynx, I get a black screen with the occasional flickering of what appears to be a "Insert Game" message, although its sporadic and looks like a glitch. Any ideas on remedy to this, or am I just screwed? Is re-flashing the cart an option, and if so, could someone on AA do this? Thanks to all for the input! Trew
I get this sometimes with various games. Usually, giving the cart pins a bit of a clean (and a blow in the cart slot for good measure) does the trick. But, if you tried this already, then I don't know. I'm not sure what the best way to clean a cart is... but I've never had to do anything more vigorous that a rub with a tshirt. Do the pins look damaged? LX.NET
Use a pencil eraser (the gummy/rubbery kind, not the sandy ones) to clean the cart. Occasionally you may encounter a dead cart. I have handled and sold thousands of second hand Lynx cartridges and held onto every broken one. I think that I have about 6 that are really broken, despite not being (visible) damaged. It happens. I hope that cleaning with the gum helps.
+remowilliams
There is no 'reflashing' a Lynx cart, they aren't flash based devices. They are really quite hardy in general though, I've only ever had one dead/malfunctioning one. But for practical purposes, there's really no fixing them if they're truly shot.
