seanlanefuller
I think I caught TI Acquisition Disorder. I just bought my second TI-99/4a off Ebay. I didn't even get the first one working fully. Did I mention that I have also bought within recent memory a TI-85, TI-86, and TI-92. Oh just last week I bought a TRS-80 Pocket Computer 1 and a Pocket Computer 3. Help!

am1933
I too suffer from this terrible affliction, it has now blighted me for many years and apparently after many counselling sessions it appears that there are only two forms of cure, murder a prostitute or buy more TI stuff. For the sake of the ladies of the night, I pray I never lose my job.
seanlanefuller
I got my newest acquisition today. We were up in Nashville, TN all day. It rained. I got home and it was sitting by the front door. The box was wet. I opened it up and luckily it was wrapped in plastic. The TI was dry. After combining the power supply and RF modulator from my other TI with my new TI which has a decent green PCB keyboard, I have a fully functional unit. I was so ecstatic when I wrote a little program and it ran. One thing I was surprised by is just how slow the basic programs run. Now I realized an important part that is missing, a cassette cable. I think I will make getting one a priority. I also need to rig up something so that I can hook it to a display in my office. I can't always commandeer the family TV.

I also love this term "TI Acquisition Disorder" there are a few more (if not all on this forum and Facebook TI-99ers as well) For your TV-issue, get the composite cable so you can connect it to any LCD display (no modulator needed for the USA type of consoles, with 5-pin DIN connectors) Once your system has been expanded, use the XB Compiler (somewhere else on this forum to speed up TI BAS / XBAS to assembly speed !) (or a cheaper alternative is to use the emulators in the mean time: Classic99, js99er.net, V9T9 emulator, MAME/MESS + different TI consoles CC-40, TI-99/2, /4, /4A, /4A EVPC, /8, Geneva 9640 and a few more emulators as well Droid99 (android), js99 Java version, PC99. I also have an disorder first collect the real iron /4 volume slider, /4 no volume slider, /4A BlackMetallic, /4A Beige, /4A Beige QI and now starting to collect all the "TI-emulators", see the video: and on the forums are people collecting the Modules / Cartridges, Disks, Cassette Tapes, collecting TI websites and whatever exists for the TI (it is a full time job)

seanlanefuller
My most recent acquisition was an extended basic cartridge which I am pleased with. My next step is an actual cassette recorder and maybe a joystick.
Shift838
the TI is very addicting! Every time I think I am done with purchasing things for it. Something else comes out and i just have to have it or something rare pops up on ebay and then I have to explain to the wife why i bought it. CantStopClicking
My most recent acquisition was an extended basic cartridge which I am pleased with. My next step is an actual cassette recorder and maybe a joystick. Stay away from the TI joysticks, they're pain inflicter's and you'll regret spending anything more than $0.00 on them. Get a good Atari compatible one and either make yourself an adapter or obtain one (it's a simple DIY project). Cheers! -Dano PS: Oh, and you can get by without a cassette recorder if you can utilize something modern with audio in/out (like your phone). Many existing cassettes have been converted to WAV format. Edited July 22, 2015 by CantStopClicking
