Looking at the HTML manual, it seems that we need to use the left and right difficulty switches to select weapons and game speed.----start quote---- SPEEDThe Left Difficulty Lever controls the pace of enemy attack and star portal appearance. Specifically, Multiply your tally of enemy casualties by 5 Add 10 points for each star portal penetrated You can determine how many portals you crossed by the color of the viewer portal (see manual). Here's my score as an example: As you see, I shot "3" enemy ships, as shown on the bottom right. But this isn't the total score. Multiply "3" by 5 = 15 Now, notice the grey viewer border, which indicates I passed through one portal. Therefore, add 10 points. If the color of his viewer border is violet, as I think it is, then Karo's exact score is 175. Scrabbler's actual score is 80, I believe (5*12 = 60 pts for enemy ships shot down; Add 20 pts. for passing 2 portals, as indicated by the yellow viewing border; Thus, total score is 60 + 20 + 80) Stan Jr's actual score is 50, I believe I couldn't calculate the BAZ's score; Without the picture, I couldn't determine number of portals passed Edited June 9, 2015 by Gorfy Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Thus, total score is 15 + 10 = 25 Oh gee, this is gonna be a mess... As the manual states right after what you already posted: "color tone varies depending on TV screen". Add the good old PAL-NTSC color confusion, and we'll be in for a detective game. See my screenshot for example: 25 enemy casualties * 5 = 125. So far, so easy. Now, is that a violet or a blue border? Violet border would mean +50 (= 175), blue would be +70 (=195). As my rank is Lt., it must have been violet. So here is my actual score: 175. @ Mods: Do you see the TV color variation (and possibly PAL/NTSC screwups) as a problem? If yes, here's my suggestion: Don't count the number of portals passed and just use the *5 multiplier. This would of course make comparisons in the HSC statistics difficult, but at least the No. of kills can be easily identified on any screenshot, no matter how bad it might be. Wait... Captain's rank starts at 176? I was one lousy kill away from becoming a Captain...? Nooooooooooooooo!!!!!! We both determined your specific score to be 125, so there doesn't seem to be a great problem. @Mods and everybody --- In the case of my "90" score, I kept track of the number of portals I crossed. Even though my viewer portal appears pinkish, I know it was meant to be orange (It cannot be pink because that would take me to a level higher than 3 chevrons).
