Sure.  I'd be interested in an 8-bit version too actually since Popeye is one of my favorite games.

Yes, I remember now,Popeye's stick coding needs loosened up for sticks that are not quite aligned properly.

I just tried this on the real thing for about five minutes. Controls work really good. Nice splash screen.

Very nice title screen, and nice graphical improvement to Brutus and Sea Hag .  Brutusk's visuals are night-and-day better than the original 5200 graphics.   I played on an emulator so didn't notice the control tweaks.

Will there be a 8-bit version of this?  The controls aren't as bad on the 8-bit but the updated graphics are nice.

When I was at Namco Networks we licensed this game for mobile. The game ran in an original mode, which looked just like the arcade, and then we had an advanced mode with more detailed graphics and a few newly designed levels, including one based on the Popeye cartoon "A Dream Walking".  You can see what the game looked like here (I set the video link to open at the beginning of the "A Dream Walking" stage link to image): LINK TO VIDEO.  You can scrub back to see more of it. Sorry for the stupid music the video maker laid over it.

To the final stage (The Black Barnacle: link to image) in Advanced mode we added the early Popeye character of Bernice the Whiffle Hen seated atop one of the masts as a power-up. Eugene the Jeep also appeared in one level.

Nice improvement. Swee Pea is no longer a snaggle-toothed creepy image. Cuter kid now.
