Grevle
Im a bit worried about using the the old computers and old CRT Tv,s. Specially the Crt Tv's that are now getting very old. I had a friend replace all the capacitators on the CRT tv i mostly use but still all the other componets in that tv are at least over 20 years old. So if i connect a Short Circuit breaker between the wall outlet and the CRT tv , Will that give protection if a old CRT TV have a short circuit ? the CRT tv already have fuse but i guess a Short Circuit breaker will give extra security against damage to the eletrical instalasjon in my home ? ryanmercer
If you are really worried I'd use a UPS and make the voltage regulation/protection on it a very narrow window. It's what I do (but we regularly have wild voltage fluctations at our house so most of the more sensitive electronics have their own UPS that kicks in if there is more than a 3v swing in either direciton). 1050
Circuit breaker will be a waste of good money as the fuse is faster and would blow first anyway. Leaving the unusable circuit breaker still on.
Grevle
Thanks. I think maybe the circuit breaker can be useful if the powercable that goes from the Old crt tv and plugs into the socket had a bad insulation and then short cicruits, These cables are also old maybe over 20 years. But i wonder if a over voltage protecion does the same job. Is it named "UPS" ? I know these can have even 3 fuses, Does these also blow if a short occurs in any device that is plugged into it ? Or are those mainly protecion against surge on the powerline, like ligning strikes ?
