Albert
I tested the hacked version and the player 2 fire (right) fire button now works in the same way as the player 1 button. ..Al
Amityville315
That's excellent news. Archon lives! Do the spells work too? Same button as firing?

I loved playing Archon and Archon II on the Atari 8-bit computers back in the day, so it was fun playing it again on the 5200. ..Al
Amityville315
A remake of Archon could be really cool. The battles could be in a 3-D realm like Mortal Kombat. The strategy side is essential to keep though. On Mortal Kombat Deception (PS2), they had a "chess mode" that was very similar to Archon with spells and everything. Unholy War was a knock off on the PS1 as well. Still, the charcters and premise of the original are classic. The Dragon's slithery movement is a nice touch. The sound fx are also quite good. Unicorns gallop, you hear the flap of the wings of the Phoenix... Good stuff!
ledzep
Not meaning to bump an old thread but is it still possible to get a cart of this (with the coding fix)? And has anyone ever made a cardboard box for it? I'm not talking about the plastic clam case that has been available from the UK.
LaserCat
Good Deal Games sells this on cart. Colour me curious about the cardboard box as well. Edited November 19, 2017 by LaserCat
David Alexander
Got my Copy for Albert less than a year ago so I hope it is the fixed version. I bought the clam shell with Archon Cover off of eBay. Would love to have an actual box for this excellent game that stands the test of Time
