ollie1974
hi all, i have been noticing something with my vectrex (i am a recent first time vectrex owner) i have noticed the screen can be quite shaky, but not randomly.. it happens in a predictable manner depending on what's on the screen. an example is (see the video link below); when i turn on the vectrex and minestorm loads, then, when the game starts and you get the text on the screen saying 'MINE FIELD 1', the text itself, the stars in the background, and the lives shown at the bottom of the screen , they are all visibly shaking (unstable) however, when the 'MINE FIELD 1' text disappears and the game begins, the shaking of the stars and the lives at the bottom of the screen, stops, and the screen is stable. here is a 7.5MB video clip showing the issue https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7wL60tHjgC0UDIxSGNFZ3VDaU0/view?usp=sharing if anyone has any thoughts or comments about this, please let me know, thanks! Rolo
It's an analog integrator based system, not digitally exact. There's always an influence of number, position and kind of objects on the screen on the quality of the display. Back in the day it would have been great great great to have your own display, instead of using father's family tv. If you only could have afforded it. Quality did not matter - it was 1981!
