Turbo and Module 2 worth it?

I recently bought a third colecovision. The other two I have work sometimes. One works most of the time, the other ones a mess, I have it mostly to display. I thought the third would be different. I was wrong. This was the first one I've ever bought that was "tested". Well, I don't know how they tested it, but, it didn't work either. Some games would work, most wouldn't, most had graphical glitches, and the games that would work wouldn't play correctly, the colors worked great though. The adaptor and connection cables were fine, but one of the joysticks didn't work, and the Super controller Action controller was worthless.

It also came with the steering wheel, and gas pedal, which was the reason I bought the system in the first place. The gas pedal worked fine, but the steering didn't. I assumed, that mean I needed new batteries, so I popped open the battery tray, and guess what happened.

It was like yellow sand pouring out of the steering wheel.. I have never seen such corrosion. Needless to say, I got my money back.

Is it worth pursuing a module 2. Is Turbo and the other wheel games more fun because of it? Are the steering wheels pretty reliable? Next to the NES, the Colecovision seems to be the most glitch console of all. Any Input would be appreciated. Thank you

Honestly, if you're new to the ColecoVision and you feel no real nostalgia towards it, then trying to find a functional steering wheel module is probably overkill for the amount of enjoyment you'll get out of it. Only a few games work with it (Turbo, Destructor, Dukes of Hazzard, Bump & Jump, Pit Stop, and a couple of homebrew games such as Zippy Race and Burn Rubber but you can play those with a regular controller). Today you can find ROM hacks of the original steering wheel games that allow you to play them with a stock controller.

Steering wheels are prone to optic sensor failure, and this is probably why your steering wheel is not working, and after 30+ years you'll be lucky to find a steering wheel in working condition. The same applies to the Roller Controller.

I think it's worth about $30 to get the pedal and steering wheel. If so spend a little time on eBay, you can find the steering wheel for a good price. Just make sure it is listed as tested and working. And if its not working, you do a return. Just check the feedback of the seller, and try to buy from a top rated seller if possible, because Top Rated sellers rarely make mistakes in describing the items accurately, and if they do, they make the return easy.

Playing Turbo with the Driving Module is a blast and you should try to track down a good working unit. The other games that work with it aren't as much fun, but the novelty of it makes it worth a try.

As was mentioned, most of the games that require the Driving Module have been hacked and the rom file is freely available.. check the CV Addict website.

NIAD, I've been trying to track down a hacked Turbo ROM for awhile with out much luck. I didn't see it on CV Addict, Destructor is the only driving game hack I can find there. Has anyone found these hacks recently?

Here is the link to Daniel's website. The roms are under the Software / Modified Games section:
