+DZ-Jay
Sorry for the off-topic post, but I didn't find a suitable forum. Is there anybody here who is adept at working with metal? I'm looking to make some cookie-cutters in the shape of my game characters. I tried doing it myself, but I am more of a software guy, and hard and sharp things scare me. I looked into specialist services and they wanted to charge me over $60 for each mold, which I think is a bit too much. If anybody is interested, please send me a PM. I'll gladly pay (though not $60 per mold). I have four cookie cutters to make. In the meantime, I leave you with a sample of the cookies I cut by hand (my wife provides the delicious batter). I could only make a few at a time with a paper stencil and a knife. Imagine how prolific my production could be if I had a real cookie cutter! By the way, I don't plan on selling these cookies. They are just for myself, family, friends, and people here in AA who play my game and like cookies. Cheers! -dZ.

+Tarzilla
Actually it was more like this with the copper strips http://www.craftsy.com/blog/2014/02/how-to-make-a-cookie-cutter/
SiLic0ne t0aD
I'm a metal worker of sorts but I think Crazy Climber is your guy for what you want, a nice CNC machine should be able to spit out those cookie cutters with ease.
+Stephen Moss
I have plastic pastry cutters at home and they seem to work ok, did you consider getting them 3D printed in ABS - it may be a cheaper option them getting them done in metal. There is free CAD software out there like DesignSpark Machanical that can be used and save in the .STL/.OBJ file format most 3D printers require so you can do the design work yourself and just pay for the printing. +DZ-Jay
Thanks for all the suggestions. It turns out that my wife visited one of those "How To" sites and went ahead and made a "test" cookie cutter out of some flimsy aluminium cookie tray she had lying around. It's not very sturdy, but it got the job done! Whoo-hoo! I can stamp out cookies like there's no tomorrow! In fact, if the Zombie-Apocalypse were to start tomorrow, I'll be set with gingerbread cookies with the likeness of the Ghost Of Christmas Presents. No zombie can beat that! It'll still be cool to get a real cookie cutter that doesn't need special attention and re-alignment when you use it, but these will do for the moment. Now, if I could only master the icing job... that's the toughest part now! -dZ.
