FifthPlayer
Updated 09-Dec-2018 There's been quite a lot of good work producing ROM hacks that upgrade a lot of classic 8-bit titles to "Arcade" editions. I've made it a little project to track down as many of them as I could, and I burned an AtariMax 8Mbit flash cart to have them to play. Not all of them are ROM hacks - for instance, some are prototypes, some are homebrew, some are ports from other platforms like the 2600. And some of the ROM hacks are works in progress. But that doesn't make them any less fun to play. I've attached a .zip file containing the Maxflash Cartridge Studio workbook file, .CAR and .BIN files, as well as the in-system flasher .ATR file. To use the ATR file, move it onto a real Atari, plug in the Maxflash cart, and boot from the ATR while holding down the OPTION key. Then follow the instructions to flash the cart. Here's a list of what I've included, as well as links to the download sources. If you know of something that's not on the list, please let me know - I'd love to hear about it. And thanks to all these ROM artists for investing their time and effort to make these games that much more special. Unfortunately, tep392 made this available as a 1Mbit Maxflash cart image. I can't incorporate this into my 8Mbit multicart image using Maxflash Studio, nor do I know a way to extract a .XEX from it so that I can include it in my multicart. The last message from tep392 in that thread says there will be a .xex "eventually". tapperse.xex Not real sure but I think that this game is a new hack by Fandal and twh This is great. Though I know of Tapper, I don't know much about the A8 version. It would be even better to know what's been changed/upgraded/tweaked in this hack. I also hacked Mario Bros XE, to improve the looks of the platforms and other graphics: Mario Bros XE - Graphic Enhancements Thanks. I'll try to put out a new version that includes these games. FifthPlayer
This updated image has the following additions: Mario Bros XE - Graphic Enhancements Tapper SE I've also rearranged the menus a bit to move the Star Raiders games near the top, to group the Nintendo-related games together, etc. Again, thanks to everyone who submitted these updates. FifthPlayer
Does Stampede lock up on you? Works fine for me. I'm using a 130XE. Thanks, I didn't know that was possible. I did notice the forum software allows you to edit the post only until someone Likes it, presumably so you can't change out the words they liked. Thanks for the links. I need to add all of these to my The!Cart Yay! I included the links so people with SIC!, The!Cart etc would find it useful. Though I think The!Cart will swallow up AtariMax cart images whole and let you burn them. Edited December 29, 2015 by FifthPlayer

FifthPlayer
I've tried all the version and even in an emulator. If you tried all download versions and they didn't work, I'd suspect your hardware. Since it doesn't even work in an emulator, I suspect something about the way you're handling the .XEX file, but who knows. All I have done is package the .XEX file on a cart image. If the cart image is busted, I can try to help with that, but otherwise I'm at a loss as to troubleshoot your problem. In your situation, I would probably just play the original Atari 2600 game either on actual hardware, or on the Stella emulator. Shannon
I used Altirra for all of the games. In fact the 2600 conversions were done by the guy who made Altirra. So I would think they'd work just fine on it.

tep392
A long time ago I modified the XE version of Mario Bros to run on an Atarimax cart for 64k machines. I should be able to do the same for the updated graphics version. There would be an xex that you would put on the cart in the list of games. Then there would be 7 8k files that you would stick at the end of the list. The xex will locate the banks where the 8k files are located and run the game using the Atarimax banking scheme.

FifthPlayer
I don't know if these fit your model but there's xxl's Apple Invader (aka Super Invader) port and Norbert Kehrer's PET Galaga emulator The more the merrier. I'll add them on the next update, probably when DK Jr. goes final. That said, I'm not a personal fan of either game. The Apple Invaders is great on the Apple II, but the Atari port doesn't account for the 7 bits vs 8 bits of pixels for each screen byte, so it has a "jailbar" effect that's offputting to me. As for PET Galaga, I'm underwhelmed. I'd rather just play A8 Galaxian (which could benefit from a ROM hack to fix the sound effects).
