Yeah, power supplies do that...A few months ago I had my Atari 8-bit power supply plugged in and left the room for a minute. When I came back, the thing was smoking. I'm lucky it didn't start a fire. Needless to say, but I don't leave any of my old equipment powered up anymore unless I'm right there.

I have had the opportunity to test "Macadam" today ! And my cassette works very well. Good new !

But after a few minutes, have a look my Adam Printer... wow ! But, I tried again, and it works... but I'm afraid to test it for a long while...

Wow! That is crazy. I doubt Macadam is responsible though. I have used it in the past to create a couple of small pieces of code so it definitely does the job, but I can't recall if I had a printer attached at the time.

Hi.

The Adam printer that emits smoke is more and more often these years. It is because one of the 3 paper filtering capacitors (aka RIFA 0,001 µF) from the main PSU get burnt because of its age.

Since this capacitor purpose is to limit system from been disturb because of PSU electric noise it can be ignored for a while but it is better to replace it.

BTW : Here in France I bought a "Macadam Assembleur" tape from eBay with the box and the French user manual but unfortunately the Data Pack inside the box wasn't the right one. Would it be possible to make me a copy of the tape, unless a .SDP or .DSK image can be found somewhere ?

It IS out there in cyberspace, because it is on the Virtual Disk Drive. Don' t know where it came from, but I will try and track down a copy of the .dsk file. Millie V has it on disk.................. http://retrosystemrescue.com/product/coleco-adam-programming-disks/ OR here it is in .dsk format - as you requested
