replace a 2600 RF box with a 7800 RF box?

While that is kind of you, it would cost like $7 USD to send it to Canada. I'm messing with a 4 switch fwiw.

I have no use for them. I keep a plastic tub full of them as... a memento. Anyways, if you want to give me your address - I'll send you... like 5 or 6 of them (since I don't know if they work).

Do you happen to have the pinouts for the headers for both the 4 switch and\or 7800 rf?

I've just got some rf interference on this 2600 and I'm checking to see if it's a bad RF box. I did a simple composite mod to it but the signal was too weak to get a viable image so I'm putting it back to rf sadly.

I'm assuming you're using the simple "transistor" hack? A 2.2K resistor wired from base to collector, and a 3.3K resistor wired from base to ground? That simply mod is a surprising good improvement over RF. Can you possibly show your circuit? I've done 20+ Atari A/V mods - and turned every revision of the 2600 inside-out at one time or another. So I can help you narrow the problem :)

I got picture out of it but barely. Looks a total mess. I've used this mod for many 7800's with fantastic results. Not so much with this 2600 using the same parts.

It IS necessary to remove Q202 with the simple transistor hack. Otherwise, yes. I've also gotten terrible video with that attached. I've always gotten rid of R207 as well. Have you removed those?

I got rid of the transistor yes. I only removed R209, didn't remove 207. What is 207 tied too?

Whoops, meant to say R209. Anyways, I'd recheck your circuit. In many cases when I've been getting a poor Composite signal from a 2600, it's usually due to cold solder-joint, or something along those lines.

I think I'm just gonna put one of the more complex mods in from electronic similarities.

I got it figured out. With the 7800 RF box you just have to skip the second pin on the 2600 board as that pin is video out and the video out from the 7800 rf box goes to the jack not the pcb. Ground, 5v and channel select are all the same.
