frank.lukas
Booster20 PCB Project for Atari ST ... Booster20 -> http://fr.meric.free.fr/Articles/Classes/booster020/tutoassemblage/MontageBooster020ParEtape.html It is a MC68020 8Mhz CPU Speeder Card with a FPU Option. The PCB costs incl. Shipping 15,- Euro Worldwide. The programmed GAL Set cost 10,- Euro extra. If you interested send me a PM ... See the Atari-home Thread for assembly Instructions (use Google Translator) -> http://forum.atari-home.de/index.php?topic=12899.msg206774#msg206774 The MC68020 need TOS 2.06 or KAOS TOS to boot the ST machine.
GadgetUK
Might be interested in the PCB and GAL, but how do you get TOS 2.06 onto an STFM? Doesn't 2.06 require some additional address decoding?
Lynxman
Might be interested in the PCB and GAL, but how do you get TOS 2.06 onto an STFM? Doesn't 2.06 require some additional address decoding? Yes, additional address decoding is required. Here you can find a schematic: http://atari4ever.free.fr/ Different solutions to fit TOS 2.06 in ST machines was made the last 20 years. Sometime included in other project. IDE-Cards, Magnum ST etc.
Faucon_2001
Hi Frank. Will it work on a STE? I already have an adapter for the STE which plugs onto the 68k PLCC socket and give the same pins as for the ST 68k
+DarkLord
Also, will it work with Alan H.'s "MonSTer" board? Thanks. PS I wonder why only 8mhz, considering the potential of the 68020?
rpineau
This is based on the 68020 card made by Jean Conter a long time ago (1992). That's part of why I started my 68020 project and the current GAL are very simple and don't offer any option for async frequency (which is why we started fresh after trying with this). It's a good simple 68020 card.
frank.lukas
I can not say that it works with an adapter in a Atari 1040STE, sorry. It work not with the MonSTer Card. I send Alan my Booster20 so he can look at it ... Edited May 5, 2016 by frank.lukas
frank.lukas
I do some tests and all is fine with the MonSTer except for the IDE. There are problems with it ...
+DarkLord
That seems to be the problem that crops up with it - accelerators and the MonSTer board using the same resource...
frank.lukas
I offer no more because of the problems ! I'm working on a new layout for a PAK68/2 in the next week ...
+DarkLord
Well, I didn't mean for anyone to stop. There was a thread over at Atari Forum reporting on this same issue and it seems that there is a resource used by accelerator boards that conflicts with Alan's IDE on the MonSTer board. The only reason I was asking about the MonSTer was that, I have one , and since it has a built in TOS 2.06 option, it would have been and easy and handy way to get TOS v2.06 for this accelerator board, if they had been compatible. Didn't mean to discourage you in any way Frank. We all appreciate your hard work and efforts in bringing new things to the Atari world! frank.lukas
A bigger problem is that I works in the Booster20 with a 16Mhz 020 CPU that I had at home and all was fine. I buy a new 20Mhz 020 CPU and it work not longer. The Booster20 gave two Bombs at boot. So there is an issue with different MC68020 production mask. I have no Idea, I made only the PCB ... All CPUs works without any problem in a PAK68/2 ...
+DarkLord
Ugh. Yeah, that's definitely a problem. ;(
