Questions Super Everdrive China

Recommended Posts

I bought 2 units of flash cart Super Everdrive China, a cartridge is for my use and the other for storing and serving replacement, I can not test the replacement cartridge to see if it has any manufacturing defect when I receive it I think of using it for 1 hour to know if you have manufacturing defect is good test?

^^ this. Krikzz will not support Chinese made product which may only work with about half of the games (the older half with simplier mapper design, not the newer ones with fancy battery saves, large ROM and etc), and I've heard of some going dead in just a few days.

is there any problem if I buy a super reserve Everdrive china to save and store the cartridge for many years (10, 20, 30 years or more) with the SD card inserted into the cartridge slot? to store the cartridge is advisable to remove the sd card slot to avoid problems? I do not know much about electronics

I don't see any problemw with storing the cart for 30 years (although, if you plan to keep it in store for that long, why not waiting and buy a newer model later?) but I'm not sure SD cards can last 30 years untouched.

For burning flash memory, I doubt it. burning or flashing require that the chip accept that, and those chinese versions are more likly to cust on all costs, including the possibility to flash, plus, it's very unlikely that the maker of that version will care about releasing any updates for your Shenzendrive.

And since those copies won't use the exact same chips than an Everdrive, Krizz's upgrades (are there even updates for them?) likely won't work on yours.

Flashing Chinese knockoffs with Krikzz official firmware will brick them. This has been reported by users and Krikzz himself. This is why they are cheaper, inferior product, inferior quality and no support.

Another reason they are inferior: some of them don't support all games.

For the SNES that's always true. The only way to get close to 100% compatibility is buying an SD2SNES.

The Super Everdrive with DSP1-4 support gets most of the way there.

The Super Everdrive without DSP support is basically on par with the Chinese ones. Assuming it doesn't short out your system, set your house on fire, and steal your girl first.
