What was the last professional printed Atari ST/TT/Falcon Magazine?

Recommended Posts

Anyone know what year and what magazine was the last "english" professionally printed Atari ST/TT/Falcon magazine? I just thumbed through my 16 issues of Atari Computing and issue #16 ended Jan 2000. Were there any magazines after that that were professionally done, or was Atari Computing the last hurah!?

I think in order of closing down for English Magazines it was ST World (Merged into ST User, although it limped on as a seperate quarterly mag for a small while as well) > The One ST(Merged into ST Action) > ST Action (Merged into ST Review or User, can't remember) > Atari ST User (Merged into ST Review) > Atari ST Review (Merged into ST Format) > Atari World (Closed down) > ST Format (Closed - This was the last magazine available on general distribution) > ST/ Atari Applications (Closed) > Atari Computing (closed). The only English publication after Atari Computing was MyAtari, but that was online only.

It's not English but French magazine : ST Magazine was the reference in France ; il disappeared in 1998, but revived in the second half of the 2000's.

Old n° are availables at abandonware-magazines.org, fabulous site with thousands of scanned (french) mags...

Since we're on the subject, was the Falcon brochure the very last promo piece done by Atari as well? Since they shifted all their focus over to the Jaguar...

If someone is curious and hasn't seen this, it is available here: https://archive.org/stream/AtariFalcon030Brochure1992/Atari_Falcon030_Brochure_1992#page/n0/mode/2up.

You can also see the line of thought between the Falcon's touted "Personal Integrated Media System" in 1992 and the Jaguar's "Interactive Multimedia System" in 1993.

Guys, until just a few years ago we were giving away a French based (but English translated) version of some Atari ST magazine.

I've still got my copies - I'd have to go back and dig them out to see what the actual date was for the last one I got. Nick Harlow

imported/sold them, I think.

What I actually gave away to random callers to my BBS was a 1 year subscription. Regretfully, I had to stop because their releases

became so sporadic that I didn't feel right about giving away a subscription that wasn't being delivered consistently...

Checked my BBS backups - here is the last notification that was listed:

Greetings everyone!

Here is the lucky winner for February 2014 at The DarkForce! BBS:

February 2014
1. Stephen wins a free 12 issue/1 year subscription to
Atari User Magazine!

------------------------------------------------------------

Also, here is the March 2014 prize:

March 2014
1. Atari User Magazine - some lucky caller will win a free 12 issue
/1 year subscription to Atari User Magazine.

Congratulations to our winner(s), and good luck to this months callers!

:)

PS Stephen, I need your e-mail address!

So it looks like February of 2014 was the last time I gave a subscription

away. I can't remember if Stephen got any copies though. I also maintained

a subscription for myself and when it became apparent that they were not

going to be delivered on time and with any consistency, I stopped.

I still need to drag my copies out from storage and see what the actual

last date was that I got one...
