Kaboom and kids

My son had a sleepover a couple of weeks ago and although you can see an Xbox 360 and Wii U in the picture, his friends couldn't wait to play the Atari. They stayed up until 3:00 a.m. playing Kaboom!, Pitfall, Donkey Kong (7800), Ms. Pacman (7800) and other games.

 

 

 

I bought a used projector on eBay earlier this week and the same kids couldn't wait to play again...

 

 

Luckily, the picture was quite a bit better than it looks in the photo.

 

 

I love it when a bunch of 10 years olds want to play Atari!

Awesome! Kaboom seems to be a surefire hit with kids; my nephews love it, especially on the 400/800 computer, because they can use real paddles and play the game together in "Pitch & Catch" mode.

Kaboom is my first "gaming memory", at my dad's Aunt Helen's place in Kentucky.

 

The basement rec room was everything you could have wanted. Wood paneled, orange-carpeted. There were beanbags.

 

It's probably the biggest reason I rediscovered the VCS. And it hasn't disappointed since we were re-united.

 

And I'm SO glad to hear that it wasn't just me. It's fantastic to hear those kids had such fun! And I'd never even realistically considered a projector, but it just went from "never realistically considered" to "seriously considering". Nice job!

You're lucky. My nephew won't play anything that old. Looks too dated. He has an xbox 1. The new one not the original.

My kids like playing demon attack and other odd games on my 600xl. The wierder the better and atari always delivers with strange wth were they thinking when they made this type of games.
