milry62
I have one of these in my Atari collection, and I know nothing about it. Is it better than other boards? What's the history behind it?
Bomberang
The Santo 88 is the board that was in the 1977 CX-10 "heavy" joysticks. Considered better than the CX-40 by some; worse by others. You can find a ton of info on this site about the CX-10.

Basically I'm saying that putting a 10 board in a 40 doesn't make it a 10. Just an interesting hybrid. Also, putting a CX40 board in a CX10 requires cutting off part of the 40's board. I don't know if putting a 10 in a 40 would even work. Please let us know if you attempt it. Would be cool to hear the results.

After doing some research, I know realize how different the two controllers. Although I did realize that I have a complete CX10 in my collection! Though when i opened it up I did notice a broken corner on the board, though this doesn't seem to affect functionality. I picked most of this stuff up at an auction, and for some reason I have CX40 replacement box with a loose controller top and Santo 88 board. So it seems the previous owner attempted some kind of repair, but it seems that will remain a mystery.
