Sinphaltimus
The development sub forum has a pinned section for development resources. I think that's great. What I think we need now is another section here for hardware resources. Something that's up to date with available hardware (parts also for diy projects) to buy now and maybe a legacy hard to find area at the bottom of the post with hardware old and older. The newer part would have a link to the page to place an order along with a short description. At the top of the list could be projects currently in development with links to the forum postings relevant. The old and older section cab have links to information about the hardware that is no longer in production. For one, it'd be a one stop ship for folks like me looking to upgrade or mod. And for the old/older stuff a list of things to keep an eye out for on ebay, thrift stores or other... A one stop shop for people looking to acquire hardware. Don't know who is in charge of such things. I just think it would be a great thing to come across in a Google search and draw more people in as well a better serve those who arrive and are already here? Would help me in my quest to find parts to get these TI-99/4A's running (like the keyboard).
Sinphaltimus
Not a bad idea. Would help me in my quest to find parts to get these TI-99/4A's running (like the keyboard). I should be receiving a half working keyboard soon. I don't know the mechanics of these but if individual keys can be replaced AND the keys you need work on the one I'm getting, I'd be happy to send them to you for cost of shipping. Sinphaltimus
That would be awesome! I have two different type keyboards now, so any type would be helpful. I'll check this thing out this weekend. I never opened a TI before so I want to make it special. LOL Just kidding, about the special part. But yeah, I'll let you know which half is working sometime this weekend if not sooner.

Sinphaltimus
I dunno what TI Forth is but I have it. I'll get 2.0 before I do anything with it. Promise.
+Lee Stewart
I dunno what TI Forth is but I have it. I'll get 2.0 before I do anything with it. Promise. Both fbForth’s are based on TI Forth. The basic difference is that TI Forth uses direct sector I/O for screens (blocks), whereas fbForth 1.0 and fbForth 2.0 use higher level file-based I/O for blocks. Most of TI Forth code works in fbForth. My Edition of the TI Forth Manual is in the pinned Development Resources thread. You probably know that all fbForth particulars are in fbForth—TI Forth with File-based Block I/O . ...lee
Sinphaltimus
I know nothing. Is *forth a development language?
RickyDean
I know nothing. Is *forth a development language? A programming language for the like C, Python, Java, or others. Variations for different computers, like many programming languages.
+Lee Stewart
I know nothing. Is *forth a development language? Indeed, it is. You could easily write a new language with it. You can easily write games, utilities and other programs with it. The beauty of Forth is that words (Forth name for functions and subroutines) do not require you to set up a program scaffold to test them. You can simply define a simple word at the terminal and execute it immediately. That word becomes part of the Forth language dictionary from that point on for as long as that session exists and can be used by succeeding words you may define. You could write an entire program that does not require you to define other words first; but, that would be a very long word and is contrary to the spirit of Forth, which is to write small, easy-to-understand words such that the final highest-level word is the program, which should read as a fairly clear sentence of the writer's spoken tongue—which Forth spirit is obviously not reflected by this circumloquacious, run-on sentence! ...lee
Sinphaltimus
That would be awesome! I have two different type keyboards now, so any type would be helpful. The left ctrl, left shift z and x keys are not working. everything else seems to work. I do not know if you can replace individual keys or not. Looking at these 2 radio shack keyboard replacements (that don't work) it seems TI keyboards are not user friendly components for dismantling (at least not the replacements). Let me know. If it is the non-mylar style keyboard (the one with the contacts that touch when the key is pressed -- looks like two little fingers touching) I can use even a non-working keyboard to swap the parts. If it's the mylar style, I probably can't use it. I can send you pics if you can PM me an email address or check my pics on Twitter (@duhproject). +retroclouds
Think that is a great idea. I would suggest that you start the Hardware Resources thread and you can then ask Albert or some of the future admits to pin it. Good luck!
PeBo
Agreed. we have the Marketplace elsewhere in the forums, but 4A'ers tend to get lost in the stormy blast of other systems. I HAVE found things I was looking for in Marketplace, but more often than not, I've received PM's from other members in answer to just regular messages I've posted in the regular TI forum (Is it still OK to call forum sections SIGs or is that just too old school - "the TI SIG" just sounds more correct to old BBS farts like me). A dedicated topic thread would also give some people incentive to finally list some of that hardware they've been thinking about getting rid of, but were looking for the right motivation. (I'm pretty sure schmitzi's got two or three of everything (heck, I think I saw 2 or 3 HUNDRED speech synthesizers in his last man-cave pix! ) Also, lets be frank, we've gotta help Sinphaltimus find an affordable PEB out of pure compassion (and so we can start cashing-in selling him our spare cards!! cha-ching)

Sinphaltimus
Yes but this section I'm talking about (and I'll do it soon, maybe tomorrow) would look just like the developer's resources section with list links to..DIY HW kits where the parts are ready to order (such as a FR99) Finished kits such as the F19A (and FR99) and ubergroms etc...ready to buy.DIY Mods such as the internal 32k and crystal speed up mod, disk controller mod, etc..(with links to where you can buy the parts) Work in Progress hardware such as the 32k side cart and ti-994a-memory-extension-with-pipistrello-fpga Links And the some new and custom carts like what we see on game shelf (including must haves like the XB 2.7 Suite)And finally at the bottom the ARCHIVED sections for things like the nanopeb CF7+ with links to information about it.Of course many of these links can be internal to other forum postings while others go to the atariage store and/or arcade shopper, etc...
