Wolf1night
Using a Atari 7800 to play 2600 games. All run well but two, Adventures of Tron and Star Trek. When I start then games the Tron logo and the Star trek logo work fine but then the games go off center. Already tried cleaning the games but nothing. Wondering if these games are going bad already? Or if there is anything I can do to fix them. I have included pictures of what is happening. Edited August 27, 2016 by Wolf1night
Andromeda Stardust
Have you tried another TV? Looks like your H-sync is out of whack.
Wolf1night
Thanks for the advise. Tried it on a another older Tv and both games worked fine. Real shame that both of the those games wont work on my newer tv.
Wolf1night
So just got two more of the same games Adventures of Tron, Star Trek and also Buck Rogers. And all three still come out the same! These seem to be the only games that have this problem ..Tried on a older tv and it works fine. Any guesses why this my be happening? +-^CrossBow^-
As was stated and as you have confirmed, your newer flat panel just doesn't like the video signal coming off these games. It isn't really a secret, but Atari games are all over the place on their scan line counts etc. and back in the day, most CRTs compensated just fine and didn't really care. Sadly that isn't the case today and many of the newer and modern TVs simply do NOT like the video signal coming off these old consoles. Having said that I've not experienced the exact issues you are seeing with any of the flat panels I've used. But then I stick with Samsung and LG primarily. I do have a few 19inch Insignia's I picked up on clearance from Best Buy 2 years ago, and they seem to like the RF inputs just fine from these old systems. I was totally surprised by this and very glad since I was using them for competitions...etc.
