cimerians
Anyone can give some info, pics or youtubes for removing rumble on 360/Xbox One pads? I think I can handle the DS4 since I've replaced batteries on those and I think you can just snip the rumble devices off. Reason: Other than annoying I'm sick of the added weight. Never use rumble and always turn it off....basically I can't stand it and am going to start a project of removing them from every controller I own. If possible.
Jess Ragan
Open the joystick, desolder and remove the motors. Seems pretty cut and dry. I think I did that for an Xbox 360 controller years ago, but it makes the lockpick games in Fallout 3 and Oblivion a bitch.
cimerians
Thanks will do....possible to just cut them off? I have a soldering kit so if its necessary then I'll do it.
Newsdee
Random idea but maybe you could mod it with a little LED to let you know it's trying to rumble. That way you keep some form of feedback for games that rely on it.
phoenixdownita
Reason why I like my PS3 six-axis vs DS3, back when it appeared Sony wouldn't want to pay royalties to the "rumble" patent holder. It's so much lighter, and like you I hardly ever turn the rumble on anyway. It'll be nice if the dual rumble motors were a snap-on part (not like the N64 as that kind of unbalanced the whole thing) but that's not how it went down.
Agamemnon2
I took rumble out of my old PS1 arcade stick, because it was incredibly distracting when playing Centipede. Just a simple matter of clipping the wires and physically removing the motor.

Agamemnon2
In my particular case, i felt the extra weight of the motor was actively detrimental since it was attached directly onto the joystick lever. Not sure why they thought an arcade stick needed rumble at Hori headquarters, but I was glad to be rid of it.
Video
Heavy? Wouldn't think combined there more than a few grams at most. I've not run across a single game that wont let you disable it anyways. Modern systems even let you link preference to your profile(as of last gen)
Osgeld
There is a considerable difference tween controllers with and without It's never bothered me to the point of removing them but all in all what exactly does rumble do other than being a hold over gimick from the 90's

GameGirlAdvance reviews the Rez Trance Vibrator Believe it or not I was almost about to buy it (I do have Rez for PS2), but decided against it, short of shoving it up my a.. I would not know what to do with it. My wife on the other end ... nevermind.
