Also the pic he took of the inside was before he wired the S-video in. My only advise is to use shorter wires and then use small tip ties as I do to keep them bundled together. Especially in the case of the audio and video, the longer the wires the more possibility for interference. How does it look on the screen when you fire it up? Playing on CRT or flatpanel?

CRTs looks absolutely amazing on my 7800 with this mod, flatpanels...ehh..not so much. In fact the composite looks best as compared to the S-video on my 7800 on my flatpanel.

The TIA 9 switch is because with the LHE mod, the chroma off the TIA will cause a diagonal interference pattern when playing 7800 games. So you install a monetary switch to kill the TIA pin 9 Chroma when playing 7800 games to remove this pattern on the screen. It isn't that noticeable on CRTs or at least it wasn't on mine, but on a flatpanel..ugh. Cool thing is that if you forget to flip the switch back, you are quickly reminded when you put in a 2600 game and only get a black and white picture! hehe.

I ended up taking my LHE mod out and replacing it with Magic Knight's s-video only mod kit. The s-video looks much better than it did on the LHE, though still not as good as my other consoles with S-video on them. Perhaps someday, we will get that much improved s-video/comp AV kit that gives us a decent picture on modern displays.

So where does one get said switch, and how does one install it?? I'd look into the Magic Knight mod, except my TV doesn't have S-video.

I picked up mine from one of the local Radio Shacks at the time. But I never did like how large it was. Still...it pretty much fit perfect in the opening where the RF output used to be.

As for not having s-video. That was phased out a few years ago on most modern displays. Hence why all my S-video and a few of my composite modded consoles all go through one of these:

Though it was ten bucks cheaper when I bought it from Monoprice like 4 years ago. It does introduce a tiny bit of lag, but I honestly didn't even notice this until I was testing some consoles on the CRT in the living room and could discern just a increase in responsiveness. Still I've gotten used to it over the years and the only game I've played lately to give me any issues with lag and timing is Sonic 3's special stages... But hell that game is giving me fits on my Genesis as it is right now anyway.
