spookt
Hi Folks Is anyone else having issues accessing the forums. For the past few weeks I've seen very slow load times and frequent server timeouts. I've tried multiple browsers, clearing cache etc but they still persist. Just wondered if it was a know issue or something local here. My connection if fine and I don't have problems anywhere else. Thanks Paul

Thomas Jentzsch
There are some minutes at 11am (GMT+1) each day where the server times out. This has been there for years, IIRC.
spookt
Hmm, thanks for the replies. Seems just to be affecting me then, and it's definitely not limited to particular times. Also not limited to particular devices as I've tested from more than one machine. I'm in the UK but don't see what difference that would make. Perhaps it's an ISP thing. I'll try to check via mobile while I'm out and about tomorrow. Edited October 30, 2016 by spookt
+GoldLeader
It's been happening to me more and more, but mainly when I'm on a little Netbook and not so much my main PC...I don't know if there's an issue or if it just happens from time to time... EDIT: ...and now it's working just fine again. Edited November 7, 2016 by flashjazzcat

Thomas Jentzsch
No problems here, must be an ISP issue.
mr_me
I definitely see an issue with one browser. I have to often hit browser reload to complete the page. That browser doesnt have an issue with other sites and another browser doesn't have an issue with atariage. If you have a problem try and reproduce it in a different browser. +frankodragon
The only time I see a lag or no response is around 2:30-3AM CDT. Then after a few minutes, everything's back to normal.

That fits to my observations (9:30-10:00 CET).
alex_79
I'm experiencing the same symptoms here. It's not limited to particular times and it's going on for quite a few days now.

Thanks Paul I notice stuff like this frequently, but not sure if it's the site or my ISP. Charter cable ISP has always been flakey.
Austin
I have no issues on my home computers or my work computer. However, when I go to my parents house to use their printer for shipping labels, the site pretty much refuses to load. I've tried Chrome and Firefox and neither work. Other websites are fine. It's never been an issue before on their computer, so it's something that has just started recently.
+GoldLeader
I've noticed it happening a lot more lately too...And specifically about 10 or 15 minutes before and sometimes after 2AM (Or thereabouts, Mountain Time Zone)...Just going off of my memory here, and I noticed other people saw similar times. +frankodragon
It could also be due to the weather at times since Texas had severe weather especially from a few days ago.
Albert
It could also be due to the weather at times since Texas had severe weather especially from a few days ago. The server is not located in Texas.. ..Al
Keatah
I'm pretty certain there's housekeeping and backup operations taking place in the early am hours. The slowdowns and no-loads happen consistently around then. All other hours it seems pretty quick.

Fixing that would require another server on the same network, which is a bit expensive for this single purpose, but I would like to do it at some point. ..Al
spacecadet
It happens to me at all times of day. I'm pretty sure it's some sort of DNS issue, because when I switch to Google's DNS servers, the problem goes away. When I use my ISP's servers, I can randomly not get into AA at basically any time of day. But it's not a one-time problem; this has been an off and on thing with AA for *years* with me. It's the only web site I ever have this problem with, but it's caused me to switch my DNS over to Google. I'm not sure what it is but the fact that it happens with my ISP's DNS servers but not Google's suggests that I would not be the only one having this issue. That said, I don't have any idea where the fault lies. Sometimes these kinds of things are caused by a small misconfiguration that one DNS server will ignore while another will freak out over, or at least cause problems if there are other minor issues on the network. But I would suggest to anyone else to just switch to Google's servers in your own network config... their DNS servers are 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, and they're open to the public (and they're reliable).
