FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ASSOCIATED PRESS
Christmas Carol Brokers Truce
Santa & the Evil Snowman have signed historic peace treaty
CLAUS & CO. HQ, NORTH POLE, November 14 2016
Early on the eve of Monday, November 14, Santa Claus cohort and chief advisor Carol Greenleaf, also known by the festive moniker Christmas Carol, helped broker a truce between her chief executive and the treacherous Evil Snowman. Under the signed treaty, the Evil Snowman guarantees a complete cessation of hostilities throughout this Christmas Season. In return, Mr. Claus has promised not to condemn, prosecute, or assault the Evil Snowman for the remainder of the year.
In addition to a mutual cessation of hostilities, Mr. Claus has offered to remove the Evil Snowman and his mysterious and reclusive footman, the Ghost of Christmas Presents, from his "Naughty" list; making them both eligible to receive their own holiday loot come Christmas morning.
"It took a lot of negotiation back and forth, but eventually we got it," Ms. Greenleaf said in a statement given to the Associated Press at the time of signing. "I have full faith that peace will be maintained throughout the Holidays, and children all over the world can rejoice."
For his part, the Evil Snowman claims satisfaction with the deal. "I'm on the 'Nice' list, that's what I wanted, and that's what I got," said he.
Perhaps one drawback of this otherwise positive historic event is that, with no hostilities among them, there is no longer a reason to arm the host of Santa's Elite Elf Squad against their one time foe. "It's a pity," added Ms. Greenleaf, "I quite enjoyed the 'Carol versus the world' yearly battles, but 'the world' is at peace now and that's a good thing. That's a very good thing."
However, all is not lost for the Elite Elves of the world. In lieu of the annual championship -- and in celebration of the newly brokered peace -- Santa Claus has invited all his troops to join him in one last mission. "Join our special 'Secret Santa' campaign," exhorted Mr. Claus enthusiastically. "Let's make this year special and celebrate it with good old fashion gift-giving!"
The "Secret Santa" campaign is expected to run from November 15 to December 15. More details and instructions on how to participate are forthcoming.

Intellivision Mission: Secret Santa

As the "news article" above mentions, Carol & Co. are trying something new this year. Instead of the Carol vs. The World Championship, we will have a Secret Santa event amongst the members of the AtariAge Intellivision community. I think it will be a fun way to celebrate the Season, and I hope you will to.

Participating is very simple, and the rules are modeled after the very successful Official AtariAge Secret Santa event hosted every year, so if you've participated in that one, you know how it will work here.

NOTE: What makes this Intellivision-related is the community participation. You don't have to send video games or Intellivision-specific loot to your recipient (although that's certainly welcomed!). You don't have to try to complete their collection. You only need to send them a nice gift you think they would like.

To Participate:

  • Post a comment in this thread announcing your desire to engage in the Secret Santa Mission.
  • Send me a PM with the following information:
    • Your name
    • Your mailing address
    • Whether you are willing to ship internationally
  • Include in the PM answers to the following questions. Make sure to keep them short and concise so as not to overwhelm the organizers. Be honest, for this answers will be a factor in finding your very special Secret Santa.
    • Intellivision player or collector?
    • Top 5 games missing from your collection?
    • Top three Mattel game "Networks" (genres)?
    • Candy or treat that can withstand shipping through the mail?
    • Preferred media format?
    • Shirt size?
    • Hobbies or interest (apart from Intellivision, of course)?
    • Any additional information about you that may help a confused Secret Santa?

Once the answers are submitted, you will be assigned your Mission: Secret Santa target and given the dossier with his or her profile collected from the answers. Use it to prepare a nice Christmas Present for him or her.

Also Remember:

  • All responses must be submitted by Friday, November 25th in order to participate.
  • All Domestic (USA) parcels must be shipped no later than Thursday, December 15th (though shipping earlier is much appreciated).
  • All International (outside USA) parcels must be shipped no later than Monday, December 5th (though shipping earlier is much appreciated).
  • Presents could contain games or be Intellivision-related, but this is not necessary.
  • Gifts are entirely up to the Secret Santa Agent, but a typical cost is between USD $15.00 and $35.00.
  • Be nice not naughty... Mission: Secret Santa should be fun and enjoyable for everyone.
  • Most importantly... have fun!

The first post will be updated periodically as participants sign-up. If you have any questions, please post them in this thread. I ask everyone to keep the thread on topic. Let's have some Holiday fun! :)

On behalf of Santa Claus, Christmas Carol, and the gang: MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

For international deliveries this is way too late. I'd suggest very early December.

I agree, but given the absolutely bizarre spread in delivery times across postal systems, it's hard to predict what's a good threshold. It may take a couple of weeks or it may take a couple of months (I'm looking at you, Brasil!).

I'll update the post with your suggestion.

UPDATE: I've added a cut-off date of Monday, December 5th for international (i.e., outside the USA) shipments.

Just to be absolutely sure everyone is clear, this is just a regular Secret Santa event for the Intellivision community. It is not intended to complete anybody's collection, nor you are expected to ship Intellivision-specific stuff (although I'm sure that is always welcome!). It's just a fun thing to do among ourselves, like the Grab Bag, but with less baggage. :)

Instructions and details are in the 2nd post of this thread.
