bradhig1
When I first turn on my heavy sixer it has the wrong colors however after 5 minutes the colors are normal. I don't have this problem with my four switch atari's.

I don't have this problem with my four switch atari's. Either cracked solder joint at voltage regulator, or a faulty regulator.
bradhig1
The stupid color pot is on that small board under the metal shielding and I don't want to mess with that to fix the color and risk breaking it again.
bradhig1
Nah the color doesn't change at all it's just different from my four switchers. I checked it with pacman and et. I guess HAT game 3 just has odd colors.
Andromeda Stardust
Try adjusting the color pot.
Hannacek
It might be the 7805 regulator needs to be replaced.
bradhig1
It's the console. I had the tv on for 30 minutes before using it. I am not opening it up again. Cause if I do something will break. I have a bad track record with this console. I had it fixed back in January.
bradhig1
For one thing it's a pain to get the motherboard out of the top of the console without breaking a switch and the color pot is on the little board in the metal shielding box not easy to get to. MaximRecoil
I have a heavy sixer that had an issue where some colors would change. For example, when playing Missile Command, on the stage with the red ground, it would slowly change back and forth between red and light pink. I had already replaced the 7805 regulator, and it's outputting a rock-steady 5.02 VDC. I recently read a thread on this forum where someone fixed the same problem by replacing the TIA chip. I have 5 other Atari 2600s, so I could have replaced the chip in mine, but I wanted to try just reseating it first (I also reseated the other two socketed chips [RIOT and 6507]). That fixed the problem, for now at least.

There's actually a hole in the top of the shield so you can get at the color pot. All you need to do is get the top of the console off and that's all.
bradhig1
I adjusted the color pot and the color is still shifting after a minute.
bradhig1
I just checked it again and the color isn't shifting anymore.
bradhig1
When I run Haunted Adventure Trilogy the edges of the title are green. Is that normal for a heavy sixer? I am thinking of swapping the TIA chip with one from one of my four switchers.
bradhig1
I swapped the TIA chip with one from one of my four switchers. Same green edges. Seems none of atari's put out the same colors as the others.
Keatah
I'm pretty sure each of the early VCS units were hand adjusted.
bradhig1
It had the wrong colors when I started it today. Noticed the starting room in Haunted Adventure Trilogy game 3 was blueish green at first and now it's normal color. Other then that California games won't work on this unit.
