retroillucid
Awesome! Bring some homebrews...I'll be reserving some tax money for this event Sure thing! Our main ''problem'' is we also have another Expo (in Arizona) a week later I guess we're going to be exhausted next August

eightbit
Please keep us posted with any updates, so I can see if this will be worth a 7 hour drive. Of course it will, you'll meet me J/k... In all seriousness, it is Coleco themed and I am sure will be an all around retro gaming gala event. I am stoked personally as it is far and few between that NJ gets these events. I live about 10 minutes from the DP store which has some neat happenings here and there, but not until the recent AVGC in Parsippany have I actually experienced any events of this type. Now I have something great to look forward to in August (and it is a birthday gift for my daughter who is 12 and appreciates vintage gaming) and hopefully the very next month AVGC will come back here as well. If you have nothing better to do I would say take the drive and stay the weekend. I think it's going to be worth it
VectorGamer
If you have nothing better to do I would say take the drive and stay the weekend. I think it's going to be worth it It's over 2 hour drive for me. The web site doesn't yet state what all is going on at the expo. I have a multicart and don't collect carts, so the marketplace wouldn't be of much interest to me. If there was an arcade at the event with pinball and arcade games or even a ColecoVision tournament I might consider going. But as of right now, I'd be willing to sit out the first year and wait for someone to upload a walk through video to YouTube to see what it's all about.

eightbit
Well I do know that the convention center in Edison is pretty large. I have never been inside but it seems like it will be a great place for a venue. It helps that I am 45 minutes from it of course I am hoping for the best! VectorGamer
ColecoVision, one of the gaming giants of the 80s is back with the release of Sydney Hunter, a new video game on cartridge. The release will mark the first commercial release of a video game cartridge in 15 years. Teaming up with Coleco is game developer Exidy which made popular the arcade smashes Venture and Mouse Trap both which were ported to the early ColecoVision. Sydney Hunter, Exidy';s newest creation was recently voted "Best Game of the Year" on the online mega forum Atari Age. Gamers who wish to get their hands on a copy can do so by preordering the game which will debut at this years "Retro Gaming and Collectible's Expo hosted by Coleco. Ikrananka
I'll just leave this here. If after this you still want to support the so-called Coleco Expo then as far as I am concerned you shouldn't be an AtariAge member. Read the first post of this topic. Flojomojo
I'll just check back in 6 months and see how it's looking. How does it look to you now? There are plenty of dealer spots left. Like, 95% of them.
Omega-TI
There are plenty of dealer spots left. Like, 95% of them. There is a month and a half to go, but it's looking pretty bleak for them. The lack of participation is not surprising considering the shenanigans ColecoTM LLC appears to employ in their dealings. Since word is getting out about their apparent use and abuse of the community, who would want to attend? All the more reason NOT to buy a table. When others see their dismal signup numbers, they too might decide to hold off or say, "Who needs them or wants to be associated with them?" I still think someone needs to draw the short straw and be forced to attend, just to take video to post online about what happens when people feel screwed over or abused.

Oooooh that would be a gut buster! But sadly, one would have to give money to the wrong people for a table. Now if the guy taking the video was wearing a Coleech-O t-shirt with a tiny url to this thread...

+-^CrossBow^-
Also I'm pretty sure that if someone did buy a table just to hand out print offs of key things from the forums posts about their crap, that the organizers would "politely" ask them to leave and might even possibly refund the table fees in the process. If they tried to get Al to remove posts and threads concerning them that they didn't like or agree with, what makes you think they will be okay with someone handing out stuff that shows Coleco in a negative light to the event goers? I don't see anything about that on the EventBrite page where they collect the money. Maybe Coleco needs a community partner to write up some Terms of Use to go along with the Trademark Style Guide they want us to write for them. Here's an alternate logo they can use, it's not infringing at all or anything.

I don't want to support them, but I also have loved all of Pmp's 7800 stuff and want to support his game. I also do not think that means I don't belong here at atariage.
