Meatball
Just wondering if anyone knows of any emulators (Atari 2600, Intellivision, Coleco, NES, C64, etc.) that allow two people to play 'together' but remotely over the internet? Want to see if there's a way for a friend and I to play some old games 'together' even though we're in different parts of the country. mr_me
The intellivision 'nostalgia' emulator used something called Kaillera. I have no idea if it works and read that lag is a problem. And nostalgia is not the best emulator. Internet play would be great for Intellivision, it has lots of two player only games.
mr_me
https://www.reddit.com/r/MAMEHub/ MameHub can do it and I was surprised at how well it handles internet lag. Since its based on mame it should be good for lots of systems including Atari 2600, Colecovision, and others. It has issues with analog controllers and trackball/mouse. So, unfortunately, Intellivision games using more than four directions is a problem. But you can play Intellivision Biplanes with a friend over the internet. For Intellivision its best to get the mame versions of the system and game roms. The mamehub software can actually get the roms for you. Inky
I believe RetroArch has the capability as well...
mr_me
Yes thanks. Retroarch/Libretro's Netplay works with some of its cores accordong to this. https://github.com/GregorR/RetroArch/wiki/Netplay-core-testing Some systems have to use the Mame core. It and the Atari/Stella core are not recommended for netplay according to their wiki.
