Interest Check: Chip Shot Golf Tournament

Last winter many of us had a blast playing in the weekly bowling league that Opry99er organized. I really enjoyed diving into the game and experimenting with all of the different variables. Unfortunately, once everyone started working the left handed bowler angle, it became more about striving for the perfect 300.

 

This year, I am interested in starting a 5 week, 5 course tournament playing Chip Shot Super Pro Golf. I love this game. It is hard but fair. Each week we would play one of the premade courses. I could keep a leaderboard going that shows the weekly rankings and the overall rankings. Overall rankings could be kept using total strokes from all courses or using some sort of point system accumulated after each round.

 

I think that Chip Shot has a similar complexity as bowling and will be quite the challenge. I imagine this starting some time in January. If your interested, let me know below.

. I think scores would vary greatly. It can be a hard game. A birdie on one hole can be followed by a double digit score on the next.

Just wanted to bump in the new year. So far, it seems there are five or so people interested which is enough for me to want to do this since I am excited to spend some time on this game. If other are interested and haven't chimed in, let us know.

 

For those that have expressed interest, there are two options/rules that we should decide.

 

1. Should we have to use the old lie or the advanced lie when the ball is hit in the water. I sort of lean towards having to use the old lie, but I am curious what the rest of you think.

 

2. As I keep the leaderboard week to week, I will show the ranking for the week and also keep the ranking for cumulative play. Should the cumulative ranking be based on total strokes, added week to week? Or, should we receive points for whatever place we earn each week and rank golfers based on points? For instance, first place would get ten points, second place would get nine points, etc. This would help players that have a bad week and take a million strokes to complete the course and then have no chance to climb back into contention. Trust me, it can happen.

I'm definitely still interested. Life just got busy. Still is, but I can always try to squeeze in some Inty. We could start In May and use the next few weeks to get it going. I am up for any ideas, but the original idea was a five week tour playing one of the full courses each week. We could keep a leaderboard with points for each position that add up over the whole tour. Other ideas?
