Keith99er
Anything unusual about this one? Low SN maybe? Just checking - if special then I'll keep otherwise it will find a new kind owner... ta!
Mister-VCS
What does "2600U" mean? 2600P = PAL, 2600S = SECAM, 2600U = PAL (UK)?
alex_79
Yes, 2600U are PAL-I models for UK and Ireland. They output on channel UHF 36 (there's no channel select switch). Most of continental Europe (except France) used PAL-B/G systems (B for VHF channels, and G for UHF), and Atari VCS for those countries were in the PAL-B standard (using channels VHF 3 and 4, depending on the position of the channel select switch). If you use that PAL-I console on a PAL-B/G TV (not multistandard), you'll get a color image on channel 36, but no sound, because of a different audio subcarrier. That's a simple fix, anyway: you can adjust an inductor on the pcb to match the audio freq of the "G" standard. (Differences between those PAL standards are only related to RF; they are the same over composite and s-video).
