toptenmaterial
I just got an N64 and damn I want to play this game. Some of the prices for loose carts are really high. What's reasonable?
nonameo
It really just depends on how badly you want it. It's high right now because of christmas and it's almost tax refund season. So it will be going up even more as people get their checks. Summertime is the time to buy. You should be able to reasonably get a cart for $40 shipped or so in fair condition on an online forum. Don't buy it on amazon if you're trying to save money though. their prices hike the highest of all the marketplaces during the holidays and tax season. Tanooki
I'd agree with that. eBay would be best unless you can farm one out locally from someone who doesn't think the inaccurate VGPC or the amazon listings are reality. A fair low to high price on one would be $35-45 shipped with a good to great label either players choice or not.
glazball
Jeez, it's insane MK64 sells for $40 or so. It has to be one of the most common games on the N64. My brother-in-law and his family still have their N64 (and Gamecube and Wii) games under the tv gathering dust (decent games like MK64, Mario Party 3, etc) and every time I go over there, I always want to ask if he still wants it. They are literally smothered in dust. I don't think he knows he's sitting on a goldmine if people are willing to pay $40 for MK64!
briwayjones
If you have a local Goodwill store check it out. Maybe you'll luck out and they'll have a copy. Probably about $3.

Myself I won't pay more than $20 for it.
Tanooki
It's demand entirely. Despite the fact there's an overkill amount of copies, plus it can be fired up legit (or not) in various other ways too, people pay up a bit too much on it. Same can be said for even the older 8/16bit Mario branded and Zelda branded titles, some of the most released games on the system. We're in an age where the .50 cent forever packin SMB+Duck Hunt stupid people will easily pay $15+ for.

Remember when Funcoland sold it for 1 cent? I'm sure I have one of their newspapers floating around somewhere and that was the cheapest game. eightbit
Ya it's demand not rarity for sure. Myself I won't pay more than $20 for it. Agreed. I see these at flea markets and game expos for around that or less. Last one I saw was $15. It's not like the game is "rare" (Nintendo made a LOT of their flagship games!) but it is just desirable because the teeny boppers remember playing it when they were babies

Grig
At least it is free shipping. And brand new (which means never opened)??? it's a pic of a loose cart. But my favorite is: Description: 1996 even though their page is HUGE and goes on and on blah blah blah
