Visual Pinball: Cannot start a game

Last night, I installed Visual Pinball. Unlike PinMAME, this platform supports "fantasy" pinball tables; things that never existed in hardware.

Specifically, I am interested in playing recreations of the Atari 2600 Video Pinball and Midnight Magic, the NES Pinball game, the handheld Wildfire pinball, and things like that.

The (limited) instructions state to press 5 to enter a credit, and 1 to start the game. This may work with PinMAME, but it does nothing for the games that I want to play. The tables load, but I cannot find anyway to start playing them. I have looked through all of the configuration options, but there is nothing obvious.

Any suggestions?

Under the Preferences menu there is a Keys... menu. You can use this to configure which keyboard keys interact with the pinball table. The most important keys are: Left Flipper, Right Flipper, Plunger, Add Credit and Start Game. Occasionally a table will have specific keys hardcoded into it to add coins or start the game. In those cases the keys to use will be specified in the instructions that came with the table file.

I downloaded the Atari 2600 Video Pinball file and was able to play by starting the game with the 1 key as specified in the included instructions file. There was no need to add a credit. Everything ran fine after that.

I'm not 100% clear as to where you're getting stuck so if you're still having issues after trying the above let me know and I'll see if I can provide any other assistance.
