TandyVision
Is it called the main screen, home screen, etc? Wasn't there one that listed Mattel but not any specific game? Thanks!

+save2600
Some people would call it the 'splash' screen today. I always refer to it as the opening or title screen.
+DZ-Jay
Some people would call it the 'splash' screen today. I always refer to it as the opening or title screen. A splash screen is different, it's a graphical interlude.
+Lathe26
Actually, a splash screen typically shows up at launch time. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Splash_screen

TandyVision
Awesome Thanks for the replies! Was there a title screen maybe on a test cartridge or something that showed all of the color bars, Mattel Electronics and said Intellivision? I know I've seen it before but can't remember where. I wanted to make it my desktop background on my computer screen.
+DZ-Jay
Actually, a splash screen typically shows up at launch time. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Splash_screen Sure, but it comes from the "splash" graphics in comic books and magazines. As the article you linked to starts: "A splash screen is a graphical control element..."

+DZ-Jay
I also call it the "Title Screen." I believe Mattel called it the "Copyright Notice." My mistake, Mattel indeed calls it the "Title Screen." This is the term used in the EXEC documentation and in the BSR site. I confused it with "Copyright Notice" because they both mention a "Copyright Routine," but this was not to draw the screen, but to "fix" the copyright line itself in case a game needed to mention a third party other than Mattel (e.g., TRON, D&D, Electric Company, etc.). I confused it confusion because that is the routine that third-party programmers (and indeed home-brewers) to draw their own title screens and hijack system control from the EXEC and into their own games. Anyway, "Title Screen" it is. -dZ.
