Other controllers ?

There was a third party controller made in Poland in the style of a Genesis controller. Not worth tracking it down. As far as I know that was the only third party controller released.

I have one. It's a piece of junk...

I remember those and knew to pass.

In all fairness, weren't they awfully cheap though? Seem to remember them being something like $10-$12. Or was that for the controller *before* it was modded to be Jaguar compatible? I do remember seeing them for other systems (Genesis, etc. ) for around that price.

Either way, gonna be hard to beat the Jaguar controller. Can't imagine playing the Jaguar with anything else. The very first black keypad buttoned Jag controller *does* have a stiff dpad, but later revisions (the gray keypad buttons) were much different feeling. Much softer and more inline with what you'd expect out of Sega or Nintendo. The OP should seek one of those models out.

Thanks guys, yeah my joypads have the black buttons, D pads are really stiff, I really have to press hard... Ultra Vortex is almost unplayable due to this, it hurts my hands after a while...

Iv ordered a rotary one just for tempest, I love that game and looks great on my oled as Iv made my own Csync RGB scart .

That looks awesome any idea of when this is likely to see the light of day?

Later this year, he is gathering parts and will officially announce it soon. One interesting aspect of the controller is he claims it has a motion control function, so left and right would steer left or right respectively. This appears to be optional as a turn on/off motion seems evident on the pad. He also said that although there is no numeric keypad you would be able to toggle the face buttons into the number keys on the fly. Not sure how well that would work for games like Battlemorph, but I'm still pretty interested.

EDIT-----> One more thing he is also toying with the idea of a wireless version so definitely keep your eyes out for this one!

Which is why I said it's not worth tracking down. It's fine as a novelty, but that's about as far as it goes.

I would go a lot further than that: it's an absolutely awful, putrid steaming coil of dung. Completely, utterly, stupendously suite hunk of garbage. A waste of my hard-earned coin. Crap!

Looks like it. Got it for novelty value and never took it out of the box. It was really dirt cheap, though, so not a lot of hard-earned coin was needed.

This is in the works from Ralf Puchner the same guy who makes the console reproduction boxes.

Bumping this nearly two-year-old thread to the day. @WAVE 1 GAMES, have you heard anything from Ralf about his Jag controller? I know there's always the new repro Pro Controller but this seems kinda cool, too. Guessing it never got finished?

I think our best bet is to hope the RetroPad32 ( http://www.brunofreitas.com/node/84 ) will include Jag functionality. I wouldn't mind using the Saturn pad on the Jag.

You could always get some brand new Atari Jaguar Pro controllers. Can order some from the Atari Age store and support the site at the same time.

Yep I referenced that in my above post. I'll probably get one eventually. A big ColecoVision console bundle acquisition set me back some $$$ for a bit!
