Tanooki
Anyone have any history on one of these if they're garbage or not? Curious if it's a pretty as it perhaps can be, or if it introduces any problems with lag or anything else by using this over just the RCA cables?? http://www.jtechdigital.com/computer-accessories/j-tech-digital-wii-to-hdmi-720p-1080p-converter.html I've seen these before online, just using that link as an example since it has a basic description and views of all sides on it. Also found on amazon one that goes further upscaling to 720/1080p, but there are no reviews. https://www.amazon.com/1080P-Upscaling-Converter-Adapter-3-5mm/dp/B008EQ4BKW I'd really be interested in that if it didn't foul stuff up. Hydro Thunder
I tried one that I got off of NewEgg a few years ago. It never worked at all, no picture, no matter what I did. I never returned it as it was only around $10, but my main reaction to the question is don't bother IMO. I am back to using component cables & it looks very good on my 42" LCD that way. I have one just like it. I am running it on my Vizio 60" HDTV, and it looks pretty good to me!

I have one of these as well and it works good for larger and newer TV's but to be honest I did not see much improvement over the component cables. It is good though if you got more HDMI inputs rather than component inputs like many of the newer TV's.
Tanooki
So basically between here and the love/bitching on amazon they're hit and miss if they're pieces of crap, but if they don't fail (or are busted in box) you get basically component level output and little over that. I actually have no access due to the TV design to the component inputs since they double down with composite and I have a 4x switcher box jacked into that as it stands with the Dreamcast, Wii, Gamecube, and N64 on there. I have a 5x HDMI switcher that has an empty spot, so if something like this would be happy with that device it would be an improvement as I recall how much cleaner component was vs composite years ago when I had a Sony WEGA before I went with LCD. I remember how much sharper Zelda Twilight Princess looked between the two.
Atariboy
I have one of these as well and it works good for larger and newer TV's but to be honest I did not see much improvement over the component cables. It is good though if you got more HDMI inputs rather than component inputs like many of the newer TV's. It's not meant to provide improvement. It just converts it to a different standard, while sometimes also upscaling it.
Kaicer
I order one from Wish because I saw it working in a friend house and is like component but with the commodity of the hdmi output. Great fot those TVs without component.
scotty
I am a little late to the party, but I got one a year or so ago, and it works great. No issues. Picture quality is the same (or possibly a touch better) than component.
tbb033
It just sends component signal over an HDMI connector, no point unless you dont' have a component input free on your TV but have a spare HDMI
artrag
Can anyone post the Amazon link to a converter he has and that works well? The one I have bought, after a while, stops working and gives a black screen for 1-2 seconds Edited December 17, 2017 by artrag
Video
Anybody try one of these? https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0753CZ8MC/ref=mp_s_a_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1513508435&sr=8-9&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=nintendo+hdmi&dpPl=1&dpID=41wDtIknMvL&ref=plSrch Says for Wii, but its just an MVO to HDMI adapter, so should cover anything from new nes to Wii, I assume, but don't know, Wii u has an MVO port. Yes, but Wii U also has an HDMI port, making this as useless as nipples on a man for anything but a regular Wii. I doubt it even works on a Wii Mini, since they took the support out of the multi video out for anything but composite,
