shear_xear
Hi everyone. So I decided to go ahead and do an AV mod on a heavy sixer I purchased. I was very apprehensive about drilling into a heavy sixer, but It is a Taiwan manufactured unit, so not as big a deal to me. Anyways, I went to drill out the holes and found that my jacks barely reach through the hole, and absolutely none of the thread does. Is there any way to open up space on the inside so that the bolt and grounding piece can be attached? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! You could counterbore the hole, or find longer rca jacks if they exist.
+-^CrossBow^-
I've often wondered how the H6's I've seen sold on ebay and in the marketplace have the AV jacks done because of the extra thickness of the case? I had also assumed the holes were being counterbored. Even then you would have to solder the wiring on first with with lock washer, gound tab, and nut already on the wire as well. Seems like a real hassle. If it were me I would have to use like a half inch forstner bit until I was about 1/16 inch from punching through. Then grab the 1/4 inch bit to go through fully. I assume it would also be possible to just drill out larger holes, and then find a way to mount the RCA jacks on some perf board that you can secure to the bottom of the case. The holes on the back would have to be wide enough all around to allow the RCA plugs to seat fully but it could result in a pretty clean look too. shear_xear
Yeah, so the counterboring worked pretty well. Hard to get that just right, but everything ended up looking pretty good considering. Thanks!
