Learn6502
Yesterday, for the first time in many months, I powered on my Amiga 2000HD and it had no sound. It's been a while since I used it, but I'm certain the sound comes out of the monitor and I don't need any audio cables going from the computer to the monitor, right? I connected a pair of external speakers to the audio ports on both the computer and monitor, but nothing came out of them? Does anyone have suggestions on what I can do to fix the sound? Is there a headphone jack anywhere on the machine? This is a decent computer I bought off of eBay 10 years ago and I hope to keep it working. Thanks. OldSchoolRetroGamer
From what I remember the cable from Amiga is VIDEO ONLY, for audio you do indeed need to connect the audio out to the monitor or an external amplifier of some sort but for sure I know the video cable does NOT carry audio as well. What model monitor are you using (1084 , 1084s etc ) also is it NTSC / PAL? My memories are hooking up Amiga A500 / A1200 to 1084's monitors but audio was always separate from the thicker video display cable.
JamesD
You need to hook up audio cables.
Learn6502
You are both right. I haven't used this computer in a long time. I forgot about 6 months ago I disconnected the audio cables because I needed them for something else. I connected new ones and the audio works fine. Thanks for the replies.
