digdugnate
I apologize in advance for posting all the time, I must be driving you guys crazy with all my weird questions. My latest one, though, is if I had one of the side-loading carts like 2049er, how does that work with a PEB firehose cable? I assume that you could only have one or the other? +arcadeshopper
You're correct if you have a splitter that may work too Sent from my LG-H830 using Tapatalk
digdugnate
ah, that's what I thought! Man, is that a tough choice.
Opry99er
The nice thing is none of the sidecar carts require 32k or disk access... that would have been quite the practical joke.
etownandy
The nice thing is none of the sidecar carts require 32k or disk access... that would have been quite the practical joke. No problem. Get yourself a desk about the size of a door and use the sidecar peripherals.

I saw that picture online- sidecar after sidecar after sidecar. when i was a kid i remember first there being a PEB, but then I think dad just went with the 32k and disk controller sidecars after that. +acadiel
Most of the sidecar carts behave as either ROM carts (and even insert themselves into the 32K memory space for extra storage; that got them more than 8K without bank switching!) One very strange exception is Arcturus. It maps itself in DSR space >4000, does a power up, that tells the system to launch the code at >A000 (24K in length). Takes over the whole console with the DSR power up.
PeBo
I apologize in advance for posting all the time, I must be driving you guys crazy with all my weird questions. Please tell us you're joking!?!?! You have a long way to go to fill up all those joysticks under you're avatar! You are not allowed to apologize again until you have filled them all (somewhere above River Patroller). Chopper commanders are simply not allowed to apologize for posting too much! And there are no weird questions (at least none that I or someone else has not already asked). Weird members, well that's a different story entirely. As far as sidecar cartridges (sidecarts?), they were a brilliant way to bypass TI's GRom licensing fees since the cart acted as it's own memory expansion (allowing an 8 level version of Miner2049er at a time where the 4A had few multi-screen platformers - my favourite game format to this day...after all Portal and Tomb Raider are just standard platformers set in 3D)) Not sure why tigervision released Espial in the same format (with a reset switch to boot directly into the cartridge), because if it accessed the 32K space, it sure wasted it with inefficient programming. That game is just bad! Great packaging though - box art was schweet!!
