Sleepy Posted July 24, 2017 Author Share Posted July 24, 2017 This weekend, two entries received: Final product:1) Revive1027: rubber replacement part for the ATARI® 1027 printer by IrgendwerIn development:1) CLM17: Interface for controlling „Light-Pen“ or „Light-Gun“-software with a PS/2 mouse by Irgendwer Revive1027: Here you find a discussion with some further Infos on AA: click CLM17: Unfortunately, software using lighpen or lightgun works with a 50/60Hz crt-display only. The CLM17 interface, connected to the ATARIs joystick- and monitorport, uses a PS/2-mouse to simulate a lightgun / lightpen. With the mouse, you control a cross line added to the ATARIs videosignal to show what you are targeting. So you can use lightgun/pen-software with a modern flatscreen or 100Hz crt. Maybe the hardware can be expanded in such a way, that one can also use ST-mouse (and compatibles), Amiga-mouse (and compatibles) or Atari trackball (and compatibles) ?!? IMHO this is the most amazing piece of A8 hardware this year. I know and understand there are rules to any competition, but maybe this strategy needs a change.... Without an application a participation is difficult . But I can understand why someone with a hardware project abstains to participate. I guess I will go this route in the future too. To put some beef into my previous answer: I'm currently translating the updated German manual to English. That wasn´t explained properly, even I was unsure and felt strange to vote with "no". That should be made more clear in the future. For hardware in development it is even harder, because you was entered into the compo might have developed much further until the JHV. And this year both the moderator and the hardware lead were not available. I don't want to be the sniveller here, it is just that the only "con"-argument of the jury for the "Revive1027" was "The number of users will be, while the printer is not common, very limited." This doesn't match the feedback I have, showing that this repair part is really appreciated. For me it was absolutely clear that I have to vote with "no" to change the ranking. I agreed with the jury and didn't vote "no". They explained it detailled and understandable why they've chosen the ranks for the items. But both participiants felt treated unfairly... I was not there, so it is impossible for me to say something about this, that makes sense. But when it is true what you write: that comment (quoted above) is really a dumb comment. DUH of course the printer is not common these days. While it stopped working, people probably did replace it and trash it. Now there is this fabulous solution, I regain interest in the 1027. That is how it works. Imagine someone finds a medicin that cures a certain disease (let's say Ebola)... meanwhile 99.9% of the sufferers of the disease died. (On the following page you can find multiple times a complaint, that there is a physical switch missing in the "CLM17" documentation/schematic - not taking into account that the operation mode change is done via mouse button, in the same way like with my "CMI08".)
