ZillaRUSH
Dug out my old IPad and I had this game downloaded on it. A Robotron copy. Great game. How about this getting a little INTV love? It has the INTV look...on purpose. Im sure some graphics will have to be reduced. Anyone know any background on this game?
Flojomojo
Just like how Minotaur Rescue looked like Atari VCS Asteroids, only moving more stuff than any old Atari could ever hope to manage. I don't think an old Intellivision could do this, but I suppose you could slow it down and make it into a Tron Deadly Discs game. Pretty much everything ever written about Minotron is here, or linked from here: http://www.yakyak.org/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=81175 This was one of my favorites, and I'm sorry they're not doing mobile games any longer.
mr_me
No need to slow it down. The enemies can be done with background animation. Leaving eight moving objects for the player and the player's fire at high speed. Intellivision controllers would be great with 16 direction move and 16 direction fire using dual discs. It has been shown here that the Intellivision can animate a large number of objects using background animation. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FIj5lgdvulc -------------------- Looks like the origin of Minotron goes back to 1991 with Lamatron. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Llamatron Edited May 20, 2017 by mr_me
Flojomojo
Can you program INTV to make wacky sound effects, though? Maybe with the voice module, I guess?
mr_me
So Minotron is the second game in the IOS series and it represents the Intellivision. Minotaur Rescue was the first, representing the Atari 2600. In this youtube video it says Jeff Minter is playing the game on an ipad and he is sitting in front of a TV that is running Intellivision Pinball. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=TrcsP4nNzoY
Flojomojo
Here's a long piece by the developer about the game -- the link in the forum thread I posted goes to the 2017 Polybius game instead of to this article. http://minotaurproject.co.uk/blog/?p=43 Unfortunately, the announced (and finished?) Windows and Mac versions of this game were never released. It's easy enough to get the original Llamatron going on an Amiga or Atari ST emulator, and it's very much the same as the 2011 iOS game. I'm pretty sure Llamatron for iPad plays OK with an icade controller, too. It's also playable on the big screen via AirPlay streaming to an AppleTV, but with some lag. Sadly, the game doesn't run on the current version of iOS, and it's not going to be updated, either. There was never a public release of a free Android version like there was with a few other Llamasoft games.
atarifan88
The first thing I thought after reading the title is someone hacked Tron deadly discs and put in the Minotaur from Treasure of Tarmin!

First Spear
What is your definition of "wacky"? Can you program INTV to make wacky sound effects, though? Maybe with the voice module, I guess?

Hey, so I know I’m late to this thread lol but I’ve dug out my old iPad 2 and I would LOVE to try some of these games! I’ve got minotron 2112 but I can’t seem to find any others. Is there any way you could upload your ipa files of the games?
