New Atari Console that Ataribox?

I love how these projects are always "working on doing better" at communication. How hard is it to open up your phone and type "Still taping the snes into the jag shell" into an app?

I think the "sometime, soon, sometime this week, sometime 3rd quarter, etc" not only applies to the hardware but to "Working to do better" as well. Someday they will work to do better sometime soon. Whatever, Any such statements are immediate red flags. Add "Going forward" to that list. Anytime someone says that one, seems like going backwards results.

Killer tacos. And yes, either I discovered my stupidity, or I am thinking about tacos way too much.

Hold your hands in front of you with your fingers pointed away from you, extended your thumbs out, each hand now makes a 90 degree angle out of your thumb and pointer finger, the one that makes an "L" is your left.

They teach that phrase at Community Manager school.

No, we learn things like "Soon...", "I've reached out to you in a PM", and "Don't feed the Trolls".

They don't have a CM to my knowledge. A phrase Social Media Manager or Marketing.

I'm more like an unpaid consultant, something I volunteered for.

So in all seriousness, and understanding you're theoretically just a volunteer, though I'm not sure how that's supposed to work.....

What is the upside of volunteering or participating in a kickstarter that mismanaged? I don't intend to be mean spirited, I'm just trying to understand the motivation of defending and supporting a group that can't communicate themselves out of an open field. They repeatedly swear up and down that they will specifically do any number of basic things within a day or two, then they repeatedly fail to even follow through on the most basic pledge of we'll communicate better even if it's to say we don't have anything to report. They can't even check in and explain themselves when it would take 5 minutes to do so, even it it was a total lie. They are batting a big goose egg, so how is that anything you want to be associated with?

He believed in the project before the poor management came to light?

Historian has also done a pretty good job of voicing his personal objections and separating himself from Atari SA. If trends continue, he doesnt need to go down with that ship.

So just to clarify. I asked to help on GameBand, but it was at that point that AtariBox was just starting to be discussed as a project so I was asked to help there instead. My goal was to start a community around it and train up some volunteers to keep the community ball rolling. The only incentive for me was that I would be able to lead new people down the path of being a CM and to possibly have an interesting sidebar to add to my resume. For "reasons" I have stepped away from AtariBox, but I'm not actually doing anything with Gameband either.

As godslabrat has said, I'm no fan of Atari SA. They've made what I would consider to be unconscionable choices with some of the things they’ve done (e.g. the break out lawsuit and handling of developers). And I personally believe the whole "Coin" thing is simple a way to drive up the value of their stock (honestly any company these days that barely whispers "coin offering" sees a stock price jump), and will ultimately prove be a glorified loyalty program… or worse.

So the real question is, why stick with Feargal? That is a more complex question and I'm not sure I can articulate it well. It’s a combination of things I've seen over the past months.

How FM2Games handled AtariBox.

How Atari SA handled AtariBox.

How that Marketing team handled AtariBox.

The people I saw make mistakes with the project.

And the places where my frustrations with that project fall.

So many factors... but it boils down to where my gut feelings lie. Whom do I ultimately trust?

I do like your appearances, Historian. Even if you can't provide much info your posts are still more informative than Taco jokes.
