thetick1
What I want to know is why the Atari VCS isn't at AMD's CES booth this year? Ah because the so called atari "engineers" are too stupid to get the graphics working despite working just fine from the AMD ADK. Typing "startx" and starting the IDE is just really hard. Hey at least they got it to boot ... which was quite difficult as you need the power cord connected, have the SDK SD card boot image "installed" and push the magic candy like power button. I hear that they're working very, very hard to implement runlevels. Expect that sometime in FY2019-2020.

It will clearly take them 3 years just to understand systemd, since apparently a lot of people get stuck on that one....
lingyi
Another fan speaks out. Please be kind. Screen Shot 2019-01-09 at 9.27.46 AM.png Hmmm...even the YouTube automatic Closed Captioning knows the truth... I watched the first three minutes of the the video just to see what the poster was saying, but had to turn on the CC because I couldn't understand what he was saying and got this gem starting at 02:08: "…somewhere someone somewhere played an Atari game even if they don’t leak video games Italian general they played these games some little a**holes some level you know I mean and you do understand what makes it so special… It also translated Atari as Terry, Harry, eteri, okay, Batali!

Welcome to one of Northside Dublin's accents. In all fairness, it's no longer just contained to the Northside. There used to be a children's programme on RTÉ (Dempsey's Den, later just The Den) in which one of the characters had a similar accent. That would be Dustin, a builder from the Northside who happened to be a turkey. It's difficult to describe how much of a phenomenon Dustin became in Ireland, but he released a couple of albums and continues to work in showbiz to this day. Here's an example of his work that will probably leave 99% of the people who listen to it completely puzzled as to the references he's making:

Also that reminds me of some of the really thick Scottish accents where you almost have to wonder if they are even speaking English. Love it.

seastalker
Rather than any Ataribox I'd go for a Kevtris/Analogue Atari FPGA that played 2600, 5200, 7800, lynx. HOPEFULLY Jaguar to complete the consoles but I'd love A8 support if not ST

Inky
There's another thread on the Atariage facebook page about the Ataribollocks TM .https://www.facebook.com/groups/29814905254?view=permalink&id=10156648929195255 Why so much hatred for the upcoming VCS? I would hope all Atari fans would be trying to build up momentum for Atari's comeback, not trying to destroy it. Flojomojo
That facebook page really doesn't count True, but the "official" pages on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube (all linked at the bottom of their homepage) haven't posted anything in months, and the IGG comments section is mostly stuff like this ... ... which I suppose explains why the contribution count is still ticking up! $3,018,941 USD total funds raised

JBerel
The more I see this idiocy, the more I'm having trouble believing there are that many brainless saps with $300 to blow. These cheese eating surrender monkeys clearly put up thousands of dollars to create the appearance their Roller Coaster fund raising/investment scam was well on it's way before dumping on it. I have an easier time believing those scam artists are self funding this exercise in large part than I do believing there's more than a handful of the kinda people posting to their comments section. God help us if I'm wrong.
+Nathan Strum
Public Service Notice: Kids- Please don't eat those paint chips. Thank you. I was going to mock up a Kellogg's style cereal box of "Atari's Lead-Frosted Paint Chips" with "Free Bitcoins Inside" and "Tastes Great With Kool-Aid" on the box, with a picture of Fred holding an Ataribox joystick saying, "Illlllllss Sont Super!" But that was too much work. So just picture it in your head instead.
racerx
Sadly, the AA Facebook group illustrates that there may, in fact, be that many people willing to throw money at little more than a logo. Because Atari's back! or Retro! or T-shirts! or something. It's all rather baffling.
