godslabrat
I just bothered to actually read it and I like how they mention the final design for the controllers. Like shouldn't those be done already? Or did they have to upgrade the chips in those also??? The problem with the more updates is that more isn't better if nothing of consequence is revealed. These updates are terrible and clearly show they are so far behind that they should have told people this information late last year. There is no way they didn't realize how badly behind this project is. Glad I got my money back and I can just watch this train wreck unfold from the sidelines. You're phrasing it as if they want to design a product and aren't making progress. That's not the case. Atari wants to put on a fancy enough show that they get bought out. That's their goal, and they're failing at it. Actually producing something is not on their agenda at all.

I've assumed this was all to get a nice big buyout for awhile. There is no other outcome for them with out admitting this is a scam.
+Spriggy
Are we still talking about tacos? Besides, it's Taco Tuesday, I'm having tacos, and it's my birthday. Hope you had a good taco .... I mean birthday ... I mean both.

cybercylon
Yay! The end of the beginning. Now all they have to do is build the OS, license some games, build the shells, make a real prototype, test, mass produce, and ship! Sounds great "Atari," can't wait to play! Can't resist saying it... Simple as that!
Flojomojo
It's nice for Atari* to have unpaid fanbois making excuses for them. Or maybe just setting expectations appropriately low? "Licensing games takes a while when you're doing it right." Ah well, at least Tin Giant finally updated their site. They didn't.
Flojomojo
What the hell is a "Point of Sale" system? I've never even heard of that. As others have said, glorified cash register. Also as shorthand for inexpensive, single-purpose computer that doesn't need much processing power. A five-year-old smartphone with a credit card swiper is a perfectly adequate point of sale system, and has infinitely more games available than "Atari VCS." There are three million very good reasons for Atari* to build its boring commodity "me too" box using other people's money. Slowly.

PlaysWithWolves
Unedited headline: Fauxtari VCS Set to Use AMD Embedded Ryzen SoC for Console Excerpt: The problem with the Atari VCS is twofold: 1) and Every game ever manufactured for the platform worth playing has been reprinted and issued endlessly over the past decades, such that there’s no reason to buy a dedicated box for it. 2) None of the additional functions this machine will be capable of will be all that much fun when run on a low-power embedded dual-core. Support for emulating other low-end platforms of yesteryear may provide some additional minor capability, but this is a box expected to sell for several hundred dollars. We’ve gone into detail before on our thoughts on the hardware, so I won’t belabor the point — but moving from a Bristol Ridge or Carrizo APU to an embedded Ryzen, while undoubtedly a step forward in terms of raw performance, doesn’t exactly turn this into a must-have for anyone.

I live in SE WI, unfortunately wasn't able to make MGC this year despite being ridiculously close to it. We all know about this place. And in high school, it was always a huge joke.
