Sound Blaster Card Problems?

Hey Guys!

I have a Windows 98 PC that has a Sound Card. It's not a Creative Sound Blaster card, it's just a generic one with a game port, input, and output for speakers. When I look in the settings, I see the files for it but I can't hear anything. Is there a nob or something that I don't know about? Or do I really need a pair of speakers for the Sound to work? I think I can just barely hear something, but I don't know if it's just me or if it's actually working.

You do need a pair of speakers.

If still not working- make sure you have the right software,

and if it's not plug-and-play card, you may need to adjust settings IRQ/Port. By Windows 98 era most hardware was plug and play, so hopefully you won't need to go there.

Usually if Windows has the speaker icon by the clock its recognised. You can check it in windows device manager; yellow exclamation marks means something is not setup. Like zzip said, if its output is not plugged into a speaker you wont hear anything. Some have an internal speaker output on the card so you can plug in the internal speaker.

Is it possible with this one? Could I just plug another Internal pc speaker from another computer into the sound card?
