coleco82
Anyone that can give me a nice breakdown of the above two games, Bumper Bash or Midnight Magic. Which of these is the better Atari 2600 pinball game ? Thanks to anyone who actually reads this thread Have fun with Atari
toiletunes
Midnight Magic ftw Bumper Bash has a better controller setup, but the ball physics are difficult, it's more like pachinko with a rubber ball.
coleco82
Thanks Toiletunes for your reply. I tried Bumper Bash on an emulator years back and your assessment is spot on. I should have bought Midnight Magic at a local used video game store (Video Game Xchange) in Madison, WI yesterday The owner was selling a loose copy of Midnight Magic for 2 bucks, cant beat that. Have a great day
BassGuitari
Never played Bumper Bash so I unfortunately can't comment on that, so without considering that game, Midnight Magic is unquestionably the best of all the other pinball games for the 2600.That said, I prefer Video Pinball, actually. It just feels more "Atari" to me. It's a fun game, but as a pinball simulation, Midnight Magic smokes it.Sort of a sidebar here: I really enjoy the pinball games on the Video Pinball standalone consoles, as well. It's too bad Atari never produced a cartridge for the Video Computer System that featured some of the games built into that console. I can picture it now: standard flipper pinball games with each flipper being actuated by the paddle buttons (two-handed, a la Bally Pin for the Bally Arcade), paddle pinball games, and Rebound games... The owner was selling a loose copy of Midnight Magic for 2 bucks, cant beat that. Yeah, it's a pretty common cartridge. You should be able to grab a copy for next to nothing. Sounds like a possible homebrew project for someone!
+KaeruYojimbo
Bumper Bash on real hardware for sure. Midnight Magic is a better pinball sim, but it's still just so-so as a sim. Bumper Bash is more fun and once you play with the paddles, you won't want to go back to playing with the joystick.
