coleco82
I like Jungle Hunt because of the bit of music it plays when you get to the spear toting natives. Also, the AVGN has a clip of it where he is "dancing" to that beat. It is a solid conversion of the arcade game to the 2600. What does everyone else think?
VectorGamer
It is a solid conversion of the arcade game to the 2600. What does everyone else think? As someone that played the snot out of the arcade game at the local bowling alley BITD I would disagree. The first two stages are fine but the final two are off. The first time I played the the fourth stage I was confused as to what I was supposed to be doing (I was on vacation without Internet access so I couldn't look it up on YouTube). It took a while but I finally figured it out. The best home version is on the ColecoVision. Despite that, I think it's a good game and I do enjoy playing it. DrSidneyZweibel
I'm confused. Did you just say you played a ton of Jungle Hunt in the Arcade back in the day, but you never got to the 4th screen on Atari 2600 until YouTube existed?
Video
One thing that always got me was the right to left scrolling. What's with that? I like the parallax scrolling. This game has some of the best from back in the day.
StanJr
LOVE Jungle Hunt, but wow after the 5th round, the physics are brutal and unforgiving on the vine level, then the speed on the rest of the game is just evil.
0078265317
5200 version is way better in my opinion looks wise. But 2600 version is easier to beat.

No...I didn't have Jungle Hunt for the 2600 BITD. Only a few years ago while on vacation did I play it and I figured out the 4th screen without looking it up on YouTube. +Cafeman
2600 version impresses me, and it is fun. When I first tried it (in the 2000's), I wasn't expecting much since I was used to the 5200 version, but the parallax scrolling and fast gameplay impressed me. Music and graphics are good, too! But 5200 version is my preferred version.
Flojomojo
One thing that always got me was the right to left scrolling. What's with that? I like the parallax scrolling. This game has some of the best from back in the day. It BROKE MY BRAIN when I realized I didn't NEED to run from left to right in Pitfall!, and by going to the left, it was a lot easier. It's silly that I needed that pointed out from the "developer tips" in the game manual, but I did. I'm so glad there's a Jungle King ROM hack to make the game look like the arcade. I have Jungle Hunt on many different platforms, but never saw the real arcade machine except in Jungle King form.
