bikeguychicago
Has anyone ever looked into completing the 5200 prototype of Battlezone or porting the XE version over to the 5200? The 5200 version looks like it was pretty close to the arcade version and I would love to see a complete version of it available some day. Thanks!

MIKE5200
It would be great to see on the 5200!
phattyboombatty
It looks complete to me. I play it all the time. What’s missing?
Omega-TI
It looks complete to me. I play it all the time. Whats missing? Where does one get a cartridge? Can you play it with a single joystick?
phattyboombatty
Where does one get a cartridge? Can you play it with a single joystick? I got it in the 5200 ROM pack download that someone posted here a while back. From what Albert advertises on the AtariAge store, I believe he/they will make you a cart of any game, as long as it's public domain. Omega-TI
I found this on YouTube... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W55BIDNtKJ8 I looks like a bit of a tease, comments turned off and only 36 views after 2-1/2 years. But I would like to get this in a cartridge!
Tempest
It looks complete to me. I play it all the time. What’s missing? It still needs some fine tuning I think. It's possible that it indeed was complete though, it's impossible to say for sure.
+DrVenkman
I’ve got an XEX for my A8 systems that was part of a group of files that claimed to be back-ports of 5200 games to 8-bits. It seems pretty complete to me, at least in the A8 port. Maybe the original was unfinished?
+lawdawg710
Good deal games has it on cartridge for the 5200. I haven't played it, but says that it is a playable prototype.
Omega-TI
OOPS! Sadly, Battlezone is going to have to wait now. I was so busy drooling over Tempest and the high user rating, that I clicked on it instead of Battlezone. I usually pay better attention! Oh well, I'm sure I'll enjoy it! Not bad for the 5200! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FksS9W9wOqw
+sramirez2008
Your gonna like Tempest...
Omega-TI
As a lot of you guys already know, I've mainly been a TI-99/4A guy, but occasionally hit the TRS-80 emulator to play << ARMORED PATROL >> since the TI STILL DOES NOT HAVE A BLOODY BATTLEZONE PORT! Anyway on the Atarimax the first thing I plan to try out is it's version of Battlezone. I know it will not be as great as << THIS ONLINE VERSION >>, but so what, it's always feels better to play on original equipment.
Omega-TI
Woo Hoo! I got my Atarimax! I love it! I've already played some Crossfire and Battlezone. After I get done mowing the grass I'll be busy 'playing' for a few hours so don't expect me to be online for a while!
onemoretime
Always liked Battlezone, but never understood why they felt that they need to put that space alien stuff in there.
+-^CrossBow^-
Always liked Battlezone, but never understood why they felt that they need to put that space alien stuff in there. I don't think the version they made for the US ARMY has the spaceships in it...hehe. In all honesty it would have been kinda dull if you only had just the one take and you all the time with the enemy tank getting smarter and smarter each time. Having the other enemies in the game helps stir things up. But the real answer as to why that stuff is in the game is because of just that...it is a game.
