atari jaguar kiosks in 2017

Anyone have an idea of what would be the going / market rate for a jaguar kiosk these days? When I see them pop up very sporadically they are in excess of $3000 bucks, but then they sit and no one buys them for a very long time. I'd be inclined to pay a good bit because the darn thing looks really cool, but $3000 seems overpriced. Anyone have a feel for what historical ones might have sold for in the last 4-5 years?

Not recent, but I paid $1000 for mine plus $600 transport back in 2003. Have it in my office at work and play Tempest Duel, Rebooteroids and any of my seven 12 map DOOM roms throughout the day. Worth every penny

But yeah, 3 grand seems a little steep.

As with everything Jaguar these days, there's too little supply for demand, plus there's the Jag fume tax. I got my Xbox (original) kiosk for less than $200 Australian. I thought about converting it to a Jaguar one, but nope.

I can't imagine it'd be too difficult to scratch build one or convert another more plentiful kiosk model, and it could probably (easily) be made to look sleeker than the 90s model ;)

I almost bought one from B&C back in the early 2000 and they were going for $800 then if memory serves correctly. I ended up deciding against it and probably best I did since I've moved a million times since. The ones listed don't seem to appear to be in such great shape either so I can't see how anyone justifies paying so much for a thing, cool or not.

At $3k, may as well start making repros of the damned things!

No seriously. I bet most of us would pay a few hundred for a brand new, ready-to-assemble reproduction cab.

Exactly. I would much rather put money into a professionally done (not by me haha) arcade cabinet for Tempest 2000 and just shove the thing in there.

I bought mine directly from Atari. I think it was $250. Could be wrong, but it wasn't much. Their VP of Marketing (whose name is escaping me at the moment) was coordinating the sale.

You know these listings have "best offer" right? Make an offer and see what happens, you never know what someone might sell it for.

Also, when you got people paying $1200+ for a single Jaguar game, I don't think the asking price of these kiosks are so bad, especially when you consider that about less than 50 are probably still out there. Their wasn't many made to begin with( I can't remember seeing one growing up), and most ended up in the dumpster after the Jaguar was discontinued.

@Clint- what do you consider good condition? These are mostly wooden kiosks that are over 20+ years old, I think the condition is very good for the age, considering the type of material they are made out of. I've seen newer kiosks, made with mostly plastic that look worst.

Here's quick vids of Rebooteroids running on mine. Recorded them with my phone so one is wide and the other is that vertical display that everyone gets yelled at for :P

But, you can see more of the kiosk in that one. I'm attempting to play one handed w/ a non-properly configured Tyrant Rotary Controller. Oh, and nevermind that bag of kitten chow on the left... :?

This looks awesome. Like one was made for the other. Just need that 'special edition' with attract mode

Edit: Apologies for the (lack of) audio. Guess I should've maxed out the little amplifier in back..
