atari 2600 light sixer display glitches

ive bought an Atari 2600 light sixer.

ive then recapped it, the output from the modulator was very bad, recapping didn't fix this issue. I wasn't to worried as I was going to fit an S-video - Comp-video mod.

I bought said mod from a seller on ebay who was selling this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Atari-2600-PAL-S-Video-Composite-Mod-Kit-Audio-Attenuation-Mod-UK-SELLER-/322758435470?hash=item4b25e6e28e:g:LjcAAOSwI6RZwDia

built it and connected it up and I'm finding on a lcd some sprites look wrong, the colours look ok though. I might post a vid to show the issue. essentially on say asteroids the image is very dark and the asteroids have a fringe. in defender the enemy sometimes seems to de-interlace.

anyway I tried the same console on my parents old (2003) 32" JVC 1080i capable widescreen crt. it was slightly better but I still find in defender some of the enemies and the main ship disappear occasionally for a second.

is It because the old modulator is still installed? or has my TIA got issues? or is the lcd and the crt too new? I did turn all the digital tweaks as low as I could on the crt.

P.S. I'm loading PAL games via a Harmony Encore.

ok managed to pickup another light sixer this week with some carts that's been in a shed for several decades I would think.

fired it up and noticed some differences. asteroids is mostly the same on the lcd using an original asteroids PAL cart. but the new sixer is colour on first switch on, whereas my modded sixer flickers into colour after some seconds after switch on.

after reading some info on here could it be the modded sixer has a failing colour crystal? or was this part only on NTSC systems?
