Did the 2600 have a non sears version of pong

Pong Sports is the only game with Pong in the title.

 

Pong Sports is a better title. I don't know why Atari didn't want to exercise their own IP/Trademark more prominently. I guess this was prior to the IOC aggressively litigating any and all use of the trademark "Olympics" without a sponsorship or license and I highly doubt Atari would have paid to use it.

I think "Pong fatigue" was probably at least partially behind it. After years of Pongs, Pong knockoffs and knockoffs of Pong knockoffs, the last thing someone is going to want to buy for their fancy new interchangeable cartridge video game system is more Pong. But call it Video Olympics and don't put any screen shots on the box and you might make some sales.
