AtariLeaf
It's at the spot where the characters leave the right side of the screen and seems to be the same height as the characters. I noticed this in the captured footage as I was editing my review video. I never noticed it while playing the game. It moves with the animation on screen, it's not static. I was playing the rom via an Atarimax cart. Anyone know what would cause this? You can also see it in motion at 3:53 of this video
bfollett
What are you using for a display? Many games have garbage (usually player/missile garbage data) displayed off the sides or top/bottom of the screen. Modern displays or emulators can now show that but it would have been off screen back in the day. Bob
AtariLeaf
I play on a CRT (Commodore 1702 to be exact) so you're right I don't notice it while playing normally, but this was captured to my PC via a capture device. I suppose it's showing more of the screen than should have been available when the game was programmed?
_The Doctor__
I've seen capture cards over the years introduce their own qirks... you really would need to look at things on a signal level to be sure...
bfollett
I just ran the program in the Altirra emulator with the display set to full over scan mode and you can see the garbage there as well so it's not the capture card. Just another program that didn't know it had off screen garbage that would one day be visible. Does your capture software offer any crop options? AtariLeaf
I've never looked at the capture settings, i guess it's something I'll need to look at more closely in the future. Glad that's all it was though so thank you
