Crazy Christmas project.

Fun stuff! ^^ Fred Flintstone approves! Actually in dinosaur measurements the stone-Lynx was practically microscopic of its age. Nobody complained about its size back then!

All joking aside I don't remember anyone complaining about the size of the Lynx or Game Gear back in the early 90s either, I think that might be a later internet or youtube idea or something?

The next part is the electronics. I would like to re-use the buttons, cart connector, speaker/headphones and ComLynx. But Suzy/Mikey had to go. The new CPU is a RaspberryPi 3 with built-in WiFi, Ethernet and USB ports.

It would have been nice to keep the battery options but the CPU alone will use twice the current of a real Lynx so I decided to drop battery support.

There is still a need for power on/off and an ESC button to exit RetroPie emulation. I have to go shopping for good-looking buttons.

  • 1 month later...

So now the wired net, wifi, USB, keyboard and mouse is working.

Also the original Lynx I chips for audio and speaker was OK. As seen here.

The buttons and joypad are also Lynx 1 original stuff as well as ComLynx.

The cart connector is used for writing new games on the cart. And also reading carts.
